Chapter 10
ADONIS
"Come in!" Dora said to me after Aphrodite had introduced me to her mother. I had been invited to have dinner at Aphrodite's house. Aphrodite did that so her mother could finally get to know me.
"Thank you, madam," I had said taking my hood off my head. I smiled discretely at her and entered her home.
Aphrodite walked me to the couch. I noticed she really looked happy with my presence in her home. Her smile showed it clearly. Her mother made her way to the kitchen, leaving us on our own.
Before I said anything I glanced at Aphrodite noticing her long, red dress and how beautiful she looked that night. A smile was on my lips as I thought she was like this for me to admire her more and more.
"You look beautiful!" I heard myself say. My face went red but she smiled, putting her hands onto her lips. I really looked comical to her it seemed.
"Excuse me," she said, trying to control her grin. "Thanks."
She sat down at my side, her hands lay on her lap and her fingers moved over the fabric of her dress. Aphrodite gazed down and remained silent for some time. On the other hand, I perceived she glanced toward the corridor several times, as if she was waiting for someone that was not her mother. I looked over at the wall as I feared she was waiting for some young man called Valmont.
"Ahah," I tried to say something at the same time as my eyes watched the profile of her face. She dared to gaze to one side, at my face. Her violet eyes were so beautiful. I believed they should never be closed because her eyes lit up my world, my dreams, my feelings.
My fingers slid over my cape and made an effort to accommodate it on my body. Aphrodite discretely observed all my moves in silence.
"I confess I like this village."
"Oh, that is great!" Aphrodite smiled and once again I appreciated it. Her smile was so beautiful, as beautiful as she was. "But will you go way from here at any point in time?"
"Well, I don't know yet." My fingers moved smoothly on my hair and threw it back. "I thought perhaps I will stay here for a while."
Aphrodite glanced up at the wall. "Oh, that would be amazing!"
"I really feel happy hearing that from you, Aphrodite." I confessed and compressed my lips nervously. "After all, I have decided to stay in this village for you."
Her eyes become larger, staring into my face. She remained silent. Her words didn't come out of her mouth. Aphrodite looked taken aback with my declaration.
"Ohoh." Her fingers ran along the length of her hair. She tried to fix her eyes on something that was not me, as she kept her head down. "Adonis, I confess you have amazed me with these words."
I gently placed my hand on hers. She could feel my warmth and her face went scarlet. Her eyes moved up in the direction of my face and met my eyes which were so enthusiastic for her. Aphrodite winked at me and after that she turned her head away from me. I could tell she was nervous.
At this moment, some noise came from the hallway. Aphrodite took a quick look toward it and saw a figure coming in our direction. Immediately, Aphrodite pulled her hand from mine and got up from the couch. Her hands relaxed again. She kept her eyes on the young man with long, black hair.
He stopped walking in the center of the living room and stared over at us. His face was serious and he kept himself silent.
"Valmont, this is Adonis," Aphrodite said full of enthusiasm. But Valmont frowned at me. He still remained so serious. I considered that he shouldn't be like this on a visit.
