Colby
All this chaos over a part that costed twenty dollars and less than 10 minutes to fix. We weren't going to go to the party but we thought since we'd already came this far that we might as well just go for it.By the time we arrived, the sky was dark with not even a star in sight and the people were already unstable, mentally and physically. When we entered the loud, multicolored lit house, we were handed red solo cups containing what we both really needed. "Hey there's Reed." Sam left my side to meet with the guy across the room, leaving me to stand there taking awkwardly large sips from the sweating, plastic cup.
I pushed my way through the people to find a less crowded area, it was only a hallway but it was better than suffocating. "Hey." A quiet voice came from behind me, making me turn around. Out of all the people, it was Lauren. "What are you doing here?" I laughed, kinda surprised by this coincidence. "I could ask you the same thing." Déjà vu. "This is where we were headed when our car broke down." I told her. "Same...well not same because our car didn't break down but because we are both here...and I'm just gonna stop talking now." She embarrassingly rambled. "So where's your friend? Ya know the one I didn't quite get a name from?" I chuckled, my cheeks growing hot. Not sure if it was because of the way her feisty attitude came to mind or because of the alcohol burning at my throat. "Sarah?" She said, sounding more like a question. "So that's her name." The corner of my mouth turned up. "Shit, she's gonna kill me. I didn't tell you, okay?" Before I could even say "Okay." She was already gone.
Since I know she's here I guess I should go find her, right? Will she think that's weird? Yolo, right? Shit, I'm so nervous that even my mind is rambling. Oh god, there she is. She's leaning against a wall talking to some guy laughing. I just stand there observing her, her laughing stops and she looks at him sternly, disgust evident in her features. I watched as she stormed away from him tears forcing their way to her eyes, he did something or said something to cause this. I followed after her as she made her way outside through the back door. She made her way into the woods full of bare, naked trees and I followed her every step. It was dark out but you could still see almost as though the moon illuminated everything in your path with a dark blue glow. "Hey." I let out a breath, turning her around by her arm. She flinched and pulled away from me. "Colby? She studied my face closer, but it only made me see the trail of tears more clearly. "What did that guy say to you?" I grew a bit angry at him even though I didn't even know her or what happened. "Nothing, it was stupid." She said looking down. "Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked her softy. "People don't care about what I have to say." Her voice sounded so hurt, you would never think that her and the girl from a couple hours ago was the same person. "Am I allowed to?" "Allowed to what?" she looked up at me with her eyebrows furrowed with confusion. "Am I allowed to care about what you have to say?" Her smile lit up the entire forest just from hearing my words. "You might have to get me a little drunker to get me to talk to a stranger." Her smile was now gone, but the gleam lingered. "Then I'll go get us some more drinks. Plus, I'm not a stranger if you know my name." I smirked. "But you don't know mine." She stood her ground as I started the make my way back to the house to retrieve more alcohol. "Sure I don't...Sarah."
As I was searching for where they had it, Sam walked up to me and said "Dude, Lauren is here!" His strong breath devoured my nostrils and I told him I already knew. "Isn't it insane? We've been talking for a couple minutes now." He sounded over thrilled as I just said "Yeah, it's crazy...um, by chance do you know were the stuff is?" I wanted to get back to the woods before she ditches me. "The booze? Yeah, on the table in the kitchen." He then honked like a goose, laughing before walking away. "Freak." I shook my head laughing at him.
To my surprise the kitchen was empty and I'm a complete idiot because the table was right next to the door I came in. I just grabbed a full bottle of some pink watermelon flavored vodka and made my way back out the door and to the same spot I left her.
Fuck. I knew it. She wasn't there, why the hell would I think she'd want to stay and talk to me? No one wants to talk to me I'm just... "Colby." She chuckled but I couldn't see her. "Where are you?" I laughed continuing to walk. "I'm over here." Her voice echoed in a very creepy tone. I'm in a fucking horror movie, there is not even leaves on the trees there's no place for her to hide unless she buried herself in the colored leaves at our feet. I was taken by surprise when she jumped on me from behind. "You should have seen your face." She giggled into the skin at the back of my neck. She let go of me and placed her feet back onto the ground. "Watermelon?" I shrugged and handed her the bottle. "Watermelon." She sat down with her back against a tree as I sat beside her. She chugged some of the contents from the bottle before handing it to me as I did the same. "So, the reason I got so upset is honestly beyond moronic. I never got that thing that most girls do, where they want one night stands and unlimited sex or attention. I've always been the one to distance themselves from people, I never liked the thought of being used but most girls seem to crave it. So when guys come up to me wanting sex like it's a normal 'Hey, how are ya?' it irks me. Does that make me weird?" I listened to every word she poured into my ears. "You just answered my prayers." I chuckled as did she, leaning against my shoulder scrunching her face. "Please don't tell me you're one of those guys?" She looked up at me, her face only inches from mine. "Hey, how are ya? Netflix and chill?" I joked. "Colby!" She playfully hit my chest laughing. "No, I'm not like that actually. I find it extremely disrespectful."
We were drunk, really drunk but it was fun and we were happy. "I...I kinda wanna put on a wig and see what that guy would say to me." I implied. "You would make a pretty lady." She observed my facial features. "You make a pretty hot dude." I joked. "Thanks, I try my best." Her smile cut me open once again.
