I walked down the hall, schedule in hand. I looked for my locker number, trying to get my things and get to class quickly.

"6O6, 6O6, 6O6..." I murmured to myself until I finally found the number. I opened it up and got my things. I put my combination lock on it before leaving.

I headed to my 1st Block, English. English was one of my favorite subjects. I absolutely loved writing and reading.

Walking into class, I saw that no one was there but the teacher.

"Umm...excuse me..sir?" I asked nervously. New teachers and students always make me nervous.

The teacher lifted his head, "Yes ma'am?"

"This is English 6C, yes?"

The teacher nodded his head and ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair to push it back. "That's right. I'm Mr. Steele."

I held out my hand. "I'm Payne Cook. It's good to meet you, sir." I said with a smile.

Mr. Steele shook it, smiling back. "You can sit anywhere you like. The others should be in right about," before he could finish, the bell rang and students came flooding into the classroom. "Now." He finished.

The mass of students made me cower in the corner due to claustrophobia.
I felt quite uncomfortable when they blocked any exit from the corner where I stood. 'Please move...hurry!' I thought painfully.

After what seemed like an eternity, the all sat down and I did too. I looked to my left and saw the brunette that came up to me this morning.

'Great,' I thought. 'now I have to deal with her every morning.'

I discreetly looked at the schedule on her desk and compared it to mine. We had no other classes together other than this one. That made me feel slightly better about the situation.

I looked to my right and saw another alternative boy. 'What am I? A magnet for these guys?!' I thought, surprised by my odds.

The boy caught me staring and looked my way. "Hey!" He greeted me cheerfully with a sweet smile, dotted by snakebites.

I made a small wave. "Hey."

"I'm Foxx." He declared with the smile still plastered to his face. "What's your name?"

I shyly replied, one of my eyes hidden by my light brown fringe, "Payne."

"Sick! I've always liked that name." Foxx chuckled.

"I've always liked your name too. I have a slight obsession with foxes and wolves." I giggled. And no, I don't have a little girl giggle. I laugh more like a dude. We'll call it a chuckle from now on, ok?

Foxx smiled as I laughed, seeming satisfied with my happiness....until he looked at my forehead, seeing the cut.

"Hey...what's that cut on your head from?" He asked, a slight worry in his voice.

"Uh...I fell down this morning." I lied.
Foxx didn't seem to believe me, but he simply replied, "..ok then."

"Alright class! Let's get on with it! Today, we'll be focusing on getting to know each other. We'll be doing a few activities with partners and sharing some details about ourselves. Remember, all of us are going to get along with each other!" Mr. Steele announced, getting up from his chair.

"Shall we begin with a trust fall exercise? I'll give you two partners and you'll have a turn with each. When you get with your partner, you'll exchange names, a fact about you, then begin the exercise. Understood?" Mr. Steele continued. Then he began assigning partners. Mine were Foxx and....the brunette.

My first partner was Foxx. This whole activity made me uncomfortable because I have trust issues. I don't feel safe with anyone, really.

"Cool, we're partners." Foxx smiled at me. He then looked at my slightly frightened face.

"Hey, butterfly. What's up?" He asked in a caring tone.

I rubbed my arm and murmured, "I...have trust issues.."

Foxx nodded and said in an understanding voice, "Ah, I've got em too. Probably not as bad as you though. But I can promise you that you can trust me."

Foxx gave me a reassuring smile before I sighed, nodded, and turned around. I heard him speak gently in my ear, "It's alright. I've got ya."

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and fell backwards. I felt Foxx's strong arms wrap around me. I opened my eyes and looked up, my nose brushing his. I blushed at the contact and he chuckled, "Hey there, Butterfly."

At his cheerful voice, I couldn't help but smile widely.

Foxx did the same and helped me back up. "By the way, I didn't get a fact about you."

"Oh. Well, I like skateboarding."

"Me too. And I like Rock and metal."

The both of us smiled and asked in unison, "Will you be at the skatepark after school?!"

The we replied in unison, "Yes!" And burst into laughter.

After a few moments, Mr. Steele have the word to switch partners. I shivered and walked towards Brunette.

She gave me another, sickening, false smile. "Hey! I'm Alexis! And you are?"

"Payne." I said quietly.

"Well, should we get started?" She giggled.

Cold sweat dropped down my forehead.
"I uhh....guess so."

"Great!" This time, her voice scared me. It was almost...ominous. I slowly turned around, sucking up my fears.

"One fact about me." She began as I started to fall back. "I hate you."

That was it. Her hands moved away and I fell onto the concrete. The world went black.
