"Glad to see you're not dead yet."
"You're hilarious."
"I know right."
Anna rolled her eyes and followed her once red-headed lover to whatever he wanted to show her. Their walk was quiet so she was able to think. And think she did, about Kristoff and everything that was going on.
'I don't understand why he has to act that way, he sometimes treats me like I'm not even a person. Like I'm just a... just a... a slave!' She growled unknowingly under her breath
"Hello? Earth to Anna, come in Anna. What's wrong?"
"What? Why do you think something is wrong?"
"Oh I don't know maybe because you're growling under your breath!?"
"Oh. Um... Yea sorry." They continued on, walking down several streets leading to the downtown area
"It's pretty isn't it?"
"What? The city?"
"Yea."
"I guess it is. I mean it's exciting. The thrill of a new unexpected day with the hustle and bustle sounds like tons of fun but I think I like it better a bit outside the city. Where Kristoff and I live now."
Hans' posture grew rigid at the mention of his company's once-arch rival, the same guy that stole his Anna from him. He never really wanted any payback for it but it wasn't right that Kristoff was the successful one, he put as much time and effort into everything as Kristoff did but got to reap less than half of the rewards. When they were in high school, he was the popular one. Kristoff was just the nerd with a weird fascination of reindeers and a friend that he hung out with non-stop. He was also new.
Coming into Hans' high school near the end of Sophomore year, there really wasn't anything Kristoff could do that would make him popular. Everyone already knew everyone and had their own little cliques, none of which included the weird reindeer obsessed kid. His best friend, Sven, had transferred schools with him and was somewhat popular with the ladies. Kristoff was not. Hans was everything Kristoff should have wanted to be, and he did want to be Hans but only certain parts of him. Kristoff didn't want everyone to have to bow down to him, he just wanted to get rid of the cliques and the only way to do that was have Hans' charisma, charm, and confidence.
"I think he was from Norway."
"Who?"
"Oh nothing."
"It's getting late, I should head home or call Merida about Hiccup or something."
"Hey Anna, can I ask you something?"
She turned to face him, to size him up for the first time in months, to see him for who he really was until she quietly answered, "Yes, you may."
"Why him?"
"Who Hans?"
"K-Krist-Kristoff." He had trouble formulating the word- the name- that made him so angry
"Why Kristoff?"
"Yes."
"I don't understand."
"Yea. I don't think you should walk home."
"I can get a cab."
"I don't think it's safe."
"Then what do you suggest I do Hans?" She was getting annoyed with him
"Stay the night at my place."
"Where is your place?"
"Well you have one of two options: my car or my partly burned down house."
"I'll call a cab."
"No! C'mon Anna please. Let me make it up to you, that day in the restaurant. The whole ordeal with everything. Please." he begged
"Ugh. I hate you. But fine let's go." She couldn't let a man that desperate to get her forgiveness suffer. She had finally saw who Hans really was, and she didn't mind it. Not one bit.
