The Path to Stray from Zina

As any Muslim knows Zina is Haram, but the reality of the situation is that it is so common and so accepted that at times we don't think of it as something so bad. Now a days it is very common to see dating and boyfriend/girlfriend. In the Quran Allah tells us to not go near Zina, He doesn't say don't do Zina but don't go near it.

The path to Zina is a path that is gradual for someone who knows that it is forbidden. It would start off with simply watching a show that has a lot of Zina in it or even a friend that has a boyfriend/girlfriend. Once you get used to this you allow yourself to take it further, telling yourself that these movies that I'm watching are not that bad, and you allow yourself to go even further and watch things with nudity in it (also applies to reading as well when the material has a lot of sexual content). After a while you want to try it yourself so then it starts off with talking to a guy/girl alone, maybe just on the phone with him/her. Then it escalates from there. The point it that it is very easy to fall into this trap that the media has set up to make us feel that Zina is something we should all try to achieve.

Now there's also the path to stay away from Zina and it only seems hard because that is what the media wants you to feel. Try to avoid movies/books that have any Zina and Zina related content. Try to avoid music (follow the guidelines of what is permissible and what isn't in regards to music). Do not keep friends that are taking you away from the straight path. Try to avoid intermingling with the opposite sex when by yourself. And most of all try your best to keep Allah in your heart and mind always, stay conscious of Allah.

(Now obviously there is a lot more to be said on this topic but here is just a brief mention to Zina)

As always please inform me of my mistakes and tell me what should be added.
