chapter one:
"this is Reilly; signing off." I said, using my signature salute.
I smiled to myself. I started my YouTube channel almost six months ago after many years of debating, and I'm really glad I did.
I turned off the lights and plugged my camera into my laptop to save.
I begrudgingly began preparing for school. it's my senior year so I only have afternoon classes, yet it is school nonetheless.
I put on my Spotify playlist "dance party" and began hopping around to the catchy tunes as I straightened my unruly curly hair.
it's taken me a long time to come to terms with, but I'm relatively happy with who I am as a person, despite the way I'm treated at school. I don't exactly fit in, I never really have. When I began my YouTube channel, the things people said got worse, but I try not to let it get me down.
I shut down my camera and laptop and got dressed.
I threw on some light ripped jeans and a deep green jumper and smiled at myself. I really love fall.
I put my headphones on and caught the bus to school.
-------
several hours later, I was heading home when I got a call from my dad, who I rarely speak to since I moved out.
"dad? hey, what's up?" I asked, sort of alarmed by his unexpected call.
"Reilly, it's... it's your uncle. he's sick. Your cousins have asked us to come home for a few weeks, he might not make it. things aren't looking so well, and..." he trailed off.
hot tears stung my eyes. My uncle, Graham Sugg and i have been close since I was just a little girl. it was really hard on me to move away from him and Zoe and Joe when my dad got a job in Canada. and now... he's sick.
my mind was running a million miles an hour. I should've visited home more. called more, sent more letters..
"Reilly?" dad whispered
"sorry.. okay. when do we leave?" I mumbled
"I've booked you a flight to the Edmonton airport, from your local airport where we'll meet and catch our flight to London. your plane leaves at 7:30 pm and arrives here at 9:00 pm and our flight to London leaves at 11:00 pm." he explained.
"7:30 tonight?" I exclaimed, checking my watch. 5:28 pm.
"yes tonight."
i hung up and began packing frantically, remembering that it was cold in London this time of year. I filmed and uploaded a short video explaining why I might not do a themed video each week, but instead I'd do some daily vlogs on my extrareilly channel that I'd plan to make on the plane.
gathering all my things, I called a cab and was on my way to the airport.-------
"Reilly, wake up." my dad nudged me. I lifted my head off his shoulder and rubbed my eyes.
"we're landing." I looked out the window at the city lights burning in the early morning sky. The sun was a deep red, just peaking up among the horizon.
we grabbed our bags and wandered into the airport. my phone buzzed, finally regaining service.

couldn't make it to the airport, sorry cuz. sent my friend,he has a sign. see you soon! xxI read it aloud to my dad, and we looked around at the signs, and my heart stopped when I saw who was holding the poster paper.
"hi!" my dad said, extending his hand. "I'm Oliver sugg. this is my daughter, Reilly."
"hey, I'm Caspar Lee."
