I stood up from the sofa and wandered into my room, pulling on some jeans and a t-shirt. I combed through my dry, knotted hair and styled it into a loose side braid. Before I knew it, Kirstie, Avi and Kevin were at the door. I finished getting ready and went back into the lounge. Kirstie came running up to me, her arms wide open, and wrapped me in a warm embrace. I returned the gesture. "Hey sweetie!" she said, a huge smile spread across her face.
"Hi." I said in return. I met Avi and Kevin and then after a while Mitch told me that he and Kirstie were going to take me out shopping for new clothes and things for my room. I couldn't wait! We got in the car and drove to the mall, stopping in Starbucks along the way. We ordered our coffee and I got a Caramel Macchiato, my first coffee ever, which was delicious. We got to the mall and started to shop. Kirstie took me into Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Hollister and Abercrombie, where she helped me pick out some clothes. I got this gorgeous dark blue dress, which was fitted at the top, then pleated from the waist down and a black leather jacket to go with it, as well as some denim shorts, a lace skirt and a few t-shirts and crop tops. We went into a few other stores and Mitch bought me anything that I looked at for longer than 5 seconds, no matter how much I insisted I didn't need it.
We went into Target and bought some things for my bedroom. I got some pink Beats headphones and some notebooks, as well as some cute pillows and a blanket for my bed. Mitch told us he had to run and find something, so he left Kirstie and I alone for a while. We talked, and it felt like I'd known her forever, like we'd been best friends all our lives. She actually reminded me a lot of my mother. After about 25 minutes, Mitch came back saying that he couldn't find what he needed, so we went back to the car and drove home to the apartment. Come the end of the day, I had four large bags, each one filled with clothes and other things. I was so happy.
I thanked Mitch and Kirstie for everything, then Kirstie left, hugging me and kissing me on the cheek on her way out the door. I walked to my room and started unpacking each bag, organising my bedroom and folding all my new clothes. I was humming a random tune that I'd made up off the top of my head, and I didn't notice Mitch and Scott enter my room.
"We have some surprises for you!" Scott said, smiling. I quickly turned around in shock. "You scared me!" I said, playfully.
Scott had his hands behind his back, but brought them round, revealing a bag with the Apple logo on it. They stepped over to me and handed me the bag. I reached my hand in and pulled out an iPhone 6s! I nearly dropped it on the floor because I was so excited. My first phone! Also in the bag was a Macbook. Scott told me that Mitch got it when we were in Target. I hugged them both very, very tightly and thanked them for all that they'd done for me.
Scott and Mitch left, leaving me to finish unpacking and reorganising my room. I was almost finished, when I realised, I wasn't just reorganising my room, I was starting to reorganise my life.
