It had been two weeks.
Two weeks of silence.
Two weeks of nothing.
Christina forgot how to teach, she honestly just went there so she didn't have wallow in self pity by herself. She tried to tell convince herself that it was the real reason she stayed away from home instead of avoiding Jay.
She tried so hard to tell herself that she wasn't alone and that Jay was obviously feeling pain, but could he feel the exact same way?
Every night after was the same. She would rush home and lock herself in the room and try to sleep before Jay could get home. It was harder than one would think, trying to avoid someone you live with.
This day was no different than any other, except that it was Friday and she dreaded going home. Last Friday she spent the weekend at her mothers house to not suffocate her husband. She walked into the house to find Jay standing there, almost as if he was going to open the door himself.
They stared at each other for a while before Christina dashed past Jay and ran up the stairs. With Jay hot and her tail and not much time before he caught up to her, Christina made it into the room and slammed the door in his face and locked it.
"Christina! You have to talk to me! Stop ignoring me, stop ignoring this."
Christina heard him take a deep breath before she heard something light against the door, probably his hand or head.
"Please, come out and talk to me."
Only silence greeted him.
"Remember what I said on our wedding day?" His voice still sneaking through the crack under the door.
God, why won't he just leave me alone?
She kept asking herself this question every time there was a pause.
"Christina!"
His tone made her jump back in fright. Could she just leave him like this. But who could be hurting more?
"Christina," he seemed more calm now. "I told you. I didn't marry you because I loved you, I married you because you're the only one I love. Don't shut me out! We have to talk about this, please. Let me just hold you."
There was another pause coming from her side of the door. Jay sighed in defeat and slid against the door before hitting the floor beneath him. He knew better than to try and beat down the door and scare her, but it's been so long.
He was ready to try again when he heard the light sobs coming from the dark room. He squeezed his eyes tight and let his head fall back against the door, joining her in her silent tears.

It was now the next morning. Jay always had a key to the bedroom, but he left her alone to be nice. He wasn't going to do that anymore.
He felt Christina squirm underneath him, his arms wrapped securely around her waist.
He had snuck in early that morning and decided to sleep in the room he had shared with his wife for the past five years.
