Josh separates the two and drags Vanessa out, taking her home. "Vanessa you can't be with Simon" He says sternly, "He'll hurt you."

Vee remains silent. She doesn't know what to do, it's a situation she's never been in before.

"Girls like you are not his type. He either like girls that fuck with him or he'll fuck with them and you don't fuck with him Vee, you don't, you can't hurt a fly" He states.

Vee rests her head on the window and watched the streets lamps that he drives past, lighting her sad expression ever so often.

"I'm scared he might be using you Vee, a girl he had fallen in love with is back in town. He used to do anything for her, fucking everything. If she came back into his life I'm afraid he'll do the same thing again, leaving you behind and breaking you in the process."

"What's her name?" She managed to mutter.

"Her name is Olive" He sighs tiredly, "The two met when Simon was back in university, they kept in touch since"

Vanessa is aware of their past, just a name was never said. She doesn't understand why it took her so long to gain such information. It's as if she's Voldemort; 'He who must not be named' but a she.

"Vanessa, I just don't want you getting hurt. You'll most likely never see these boys again or at least for a long time."

"Why?" She quietly asks. This catches Josh off guard. He stumbles for words. "You guys are my only friends, am I just meant to let go and never see you all again?"

Josh pulls over to the side of the road, stopping the car and turning off the engine, "Vee." Tears begin streaming down her face she watches herself fiddle with her fingers in her lap. "Vanessa please don't cry."

"I don't want to lose the only friends I have" she mutters, sniffling and wiping her face with the back of one of her hands.

"I'm sorry Vee." He apologises.

"For what? The fact that I don't have many friends? That's not your fault, that's nobody but my own fault. I did this to myself" She rambles as her body shakes, crying as her throat tightens, "I'm twenty years old for fuck sake I can barely speak to anyone."

Josh gets out and walks over, opening the door to her side, "Get out Vee" he commands softly and she obeys, stepping out of the car. He wraps his arms around her and she just cries.

Josh hums a calming melody; something their fathers used to do before they'd go to sleep as children. She relaxes to the familiar tune, her tears now drying on her cheeks, she cannot cry anymore.

"Thanks" She mutters.

"We'll talk about everything else later, but now we need to get home and sleep. It's been a long day" Josh sighs and Vee nods in agreement.

She very aware that the two have a lot to talk about and she's scared, very scared to see what will happen when the sun rises.

"All you're going to do is hurt her" Josh growls. Simon glares down at him, though the he is only an inch or two smaller.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me Josh" He exclaims and rolls his eyes. He throws his hands up in the air, "Why can't you just trust me!? I like her, she likes me, just fucking allow it" He yells.

A door opens. It's the door across the hall, the argument has woken her and they both stand frozen in her sight. Her eyes red, bags underneath them and her hair in a complete mess. She stands with sweater paws and baggy sweatpants. Simon's eyes soften at the sight.
