The Journey // Shawn Mendes

||Chapter One

Another day in the very cold, Canada. I basically live in my room, scared, no terrified of the outside world. I'm traumatized, too many loved ones have died, and I was forced to watch it every single time. My thoughts were interrupted by my aunt Nicole.
"Valerie, honey please come down and meet our neighbors!" My aunt is always happy somehow after everything that has happened. I get off my bed and change into a tye die sweatshirt and leggings and my fluffy socks. If you haven't already guessed, I cut. No I don't do it for attention but because I am beyond depressed and when you're like me, there's no escape so I cut because it's the only thing like makes me happy. It's hard to explain why but that's just how the depressed life is. I grab my phone and walk downstairs seeing two very smiley parents with a younger daughter and very attractive- woah did I just call him cute? Ew. Anyways, and a son who looked to be around my age.
"Hello! My name is Karen Mendes and this is my husband Manuel or Manny and our kids Aaliyah who is twelve and Shawn who is your age, sixteen." she said that with the most warm and welcoming smile. She said some other stuff to me yet mostly my aunt but all I could focus on was Shawn. Even his name sounded heavenly. He looked like a god. The way his chocolatey brown eyes twinkled at me as we were staring at each other and he had a cute lazy eye that wasnt too noticeable. After staring for what felt like a million years he broke our gaze and came over to me.
"Hey I'm Shawn." he smiled at me and i could feel heat rising to my cheeks.
"Hi I'm Valerie." I genuinely smile back for the first time in forever.
"I know we just met and all but I think you're beautiful and I wanted to know if you... wantedtogooutwithmesometime?" he said the last part quickly and nervously. I just giggled and looked at him.
"Shawn I would love to go out with you sometime!" oh my gosh what am I getting myself into? He looked up at me with hope in his eyes.
"Really!?" I was so happy and shocked so I just nodded.
"Well let's just go now!" I laughed at his excitement and slipped on my shoes, and told my aunt where we were going and she let us go so we left and the whole time I wondered why he wanted to hang out with someone like me?
