||Chapter Four

Shawn's POV

"Valerie, I need to ask you something..."
"Um ok...?" she seemed nervous but I needed to know why she hurt herself.
"Why would you cut yourself?" she looked shocked.
"W-what do you mean?"
"I saw your wrists Valerie. Please. I want to know you, help you. Let me in so I can help you. I like you Valerie and I wont hurt you like other boys do." she just nodded.
"It all started when I was four. I don't remember much but I know that me, my father and my mother were a happy family..." she paused to wipe her tears "One day though, my father.. he just snapped. He punched and yelled at my mother when she told him to calm down. That night... he raped me. He raped me every night since I turned thirteen. When I was twelve though.. me and my mom tried to escape. He caught us and started to hit my mom. Blood was everywhere. He made me watch too. He threw her body in a duffle bag and she was unconscious so I sadly believe she died. Once again I tried to escape but I was thirteen, I ran to my neighbors house and they called the cops. I told them everything he ever did to me. He got arrested and my grandparents took me in. I was so happy with them. I had friends, a lot actually. I stopped cutting. I was... happy. I grew so close to my grandparents that sometimes I would call them mom and dad. Everything was great, but of course, no one gets a happy ending. He escaped jail. He came and killed them. He didn't even just kill them and then just stopped. He did so many things to their bodies. I can't ever erase what happened that night. The cops caught him again. In court he pleaded as insane and went to a mental hospital. I havent seen him sense, and I don't plan to ever visit him or anything like he keeps begging me to in letters that he sends which I never have replied to. (a/n idk if people who are in mental hospitals are allowed to send letters or whatever but this is a fanfic so i can make anyhing happen tbh.😂) I now live with my aunt. Things are getting better, but I started to cut again.. people hate me now which is why I also cut. Right when I went to school I was called a whore, slut, emo freak, suicidal bitch, and more. I didn't realize that the news people reported everything that happened that night. Everything my father did. Everything. It's funny though how people think that I wanted all this to happen to me. Like I wanted to be raped. I never ever asked for this. But of course, if you get attention because your horrible life was put on television, people think you're an attention whore. So yeah, there's my life story basically." by this point she was bawling and I was holding her not caring if my shirt was soaking wet with her tears.
"If I knew how bad that was going to be I would've never asked you about it. I can't bear to see such a beautiful girl cry."
"How can you find such a mess like me beautiful?"
"Think of it like this. When you have a pretty looking room that's full with things that have hoarded items all over the place, it's a mess. Once someone comes along and helps you clean up the mess, you get to see how beautiful the room really is and was. I want to be the person who helps you. I want to be the person who helps you realize how beautiful you are. Let me in and let me be that person." she looked at me and nodded her head hugging me tighter and I kissed her head whispering things in her ear to make her feel safe. How could someone rape and hurt such a beautiful girl. Oh god, I think I'm falling for her.

Valerie's POV

Shawn was holding me kissing my head every once in a while. The room was completely silent. Not awkward silence, but a comforting silence. I really like Shawn and I don't give two craps if this sounds cheesy, but I get this feeling like we were meant to be.
"SHAWN!! VALERIE!! TIME TO EAT COME DOWN PLEASE!!" my aunt yelled making me jump and Shawn laugh really hard.
"Don't laugh at me!"
"Sorry but I can't help it! You're just too adorable and the look on your face when you jumped was hilarious." he was crying at this point from laughing so hard so I just pushed him off the bed and went down stairs. This boy is gonna drive me crazy.
