You know that feeling, when you know your about to die but something... Or someone keeps you there... Well I know that feeling well, too well. This time I was ready, ready to give into the white light that clouded my vision. But something stopped me and this time, well this time I was happy it did...
The others were huddled in a small group behind me, shivering from what she had said to them.
"Look Wyatt, Felicity there's not much time left. Tell the others to get out of the buildings and into somewhere safe, I'll go after her while you two go to find Carlos. Okay?" They both looked at each other and then back at me.
"But Jack." Felicity complained but I cut her off.
"Just go." I began to run along the soaked grass.
"COME ON THEN WHERE ARE YOU?" I screamed, at this point my hair was soaked and was currently dripping onto my leather jacket.
"I'm right behind you." She chuckled. I whipped around to see the quick flap of a black cloak. I could warm breath against my neck and my heart dropped as I turned around to meet hazel eyes.
"Bit off too much than you could chew huh?" She cackled, her long fingernails tracing my jawbone. I shivered involuntarily. Her long blonde hair framed her face, the leopard print eye-shadow covered her lids and she had a permanent smile that mocked anyone who stared at it long enough.
"You don't scare me..." I paused.
"Jabber." She smiled.
"Oh Jack, you know that I don't believe you right?" I pursed my lips, knowing that I couldn't lie to her.
"So who let the infamous Jabberwocky free?" I sneered, keeping a strong hold on my sword. Her face dropped but she quickly recovered.
"I don't think you need to know that darling." She mocked. My heart dropped.
"It wasn't my mother, your lying, she would never let a beast like you out." She placed a hand on her chest and gasped.
"Why thank you Jack, that means a lot to me." She giggled.
"Let's see what's haunting you today hmm?" She hummed, staring into my blue eyes with her cold dead ones.
"Oooo." She giggled once she had gotten past my walls and had started digging through my head, it was a throbbing sensation and my hands were clasped over my ears to stop it.
"How about this? Your too scared to tell the boy you like that you like him because your scared of rejection." I felt a tear drop down my face, but it quickly melded in the rain. I felt her digging deeper and deeper into my soul.
"Oh another one. You've got mommy problems, well guess what we all have!" She snapped. Something snapped inside of me and I stood up taller.
"So you had mommy problems." I could see the words cut deep as her face fell.
"What-t?" She stuttered, feeling defenceless. I smirked.
"Mommy never loved you?" I cooed sarcastically. Fury flashed through her eyes and she growled.
"You little bitch!" Her body started expanding, scales popping up onto her skin.
"YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO SET ME FREE!" She roared, finally in dragon form and was soaring above me. I started running, slipping on the muddy grass.
"IT WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THAT SNOW SCUM!" Anger flashed through me.
"Winter!" I shouted. The swooping of wings broke me from my thoughts and the grass next to me set on fire.
It was all happening again... That dream it was a warning.
I slipped over the muddy grass, I climbed up the side of the school and ran along the tiles. Fire light up behind me causing me to fall onto all fours. This is familiar. My nose was bleeding and my lip was cut, she chuckled darkly.
"Guess the Jack of Hearts is finally defeated, just like her mother." My head was pounding as I fought an inside battle with myself. I pulled myself up.
"You're bluffing." I smirked, well as much as I could. Her eyes widened.
"What do you mean?" She hissed. I let out a shaky breath.
"Your bluffing, if you'd already killed my mother you would've killed me already." I chuckled.
"Of course I've killed your mother." She snarled.
"I'm the Jack of Hearts, don't try and play me at my own game." I said, holding my sword. She hissed again. Finally once I plucked up the courage, I leaped from the side of the building, plunging the sword deep into her strong shoulder. Her curdling scream filled my ears and I winced, dangling off the handle of my sword. She tried to shake me off but I held on, seeing Wyatt, Felicity and Carlos running forwards. The Jabberwocky let out a mighty roar, I lost my grip, pummelling to the hard ground. I screamed in pain as I made contact with the floor. Carlos was by my side in a matter on seconds, holding onto my hand with big, pleading eyes. I spluttered up blood. A thud sound came from beside me and I slowly turned my head to see a limp Jabberwocky. White spots flecked my vision.
"I did it Carlos... I defeated her..." More blood rose up my throat.
"No Jack, don't go, please stay with me..." He begged, holding tightly onto my hands. I just smiled and held my hand to his cheek. A solitary tear dropped down onto my thumb.
"No, don't go..." He sobbed as I gave into the white light...
