Epilogue

Hand in hand we ran through a grassy meadow. He got down on one knee.

"Jack, I love you so much and I would never have thought I'd fall in love with you. I mean not in a bad way... Dammit it wasn't supposed to go like this."  He coughed awkwardly before starting over. Eyes bright against the dying sun.

"Jack, we are given two hands to hold, two legs to walk, two eyes to see, two ears to listen, but why only one heart?" I smiled.

"Because the other was given to someone else... To find." He face broke into a smile.

"And I think I've found my other half." He opened a box to reveal a ring, eyes wide, hoping I'd say yes.

*20 years later*

"Carlos is Maddie ready?" I yelled out, after I finished cleaning our room quickly, Dude had sadly passed away but had left us with a litter of puppies which we decided to keep two of them. Orla lazily followed behind me.

"She's nearly done babe!" I heard Carlos yell back, I walked down the hallway until we reach our 12 year old, Casper's room. I knocked on the door, pushing it open slightly.

"Hey Casp you ready?" A quick yes was all I got in reply. I shut the door and walked back and down the staircase. Teenage angst hit him early. I found Carlos lounging on the sofa in a front room, opposite to our 8 year olds room.

"Carlos, you can't lay down in a suit!" I chuckled, picking up the pillows and arranging them nicely.

"What am I doing?" He said, referring to his body.

"Crumpling the suit." I stated before knocking on Maddie's door.

"Coming mummy." The mop of blonde hair ran at me, cuddling my stomach before running and tackling Carlos, crumpling both Carlos' suit and her dress. The doorbell went and I sighed in frustration, I opened the door to see Wyatt, Felicity and their 11 year old daughter Phoenix stood on the doorstep. I pulled them into a hug and then let them in.

"CASPER WE NEED TO GO!" I yelled up the staircase. There were a few muffled moans and then the loud thumping when he finally emerged in skinny jeans and a long sleeved button down.

"Right I think we're ready Wyatt." I said, grabbing a hold onto Maddie's hand as she bounced everywhere. Wyatt nodded and began to create the blue light.

In a matter of seconds we were outside the new and refurbished castle where my parents lived. We trudged up the stone steps.

"Jack, darling, welcome we've missed you." My mom called out, running down the large spiral glass staircase. She engulfed me in a huge hug, blocking me airway.

"Umm honey I think you should let her go." My dad called out, carefully peeling my mom's arms off me.

"Ahh yes sorry about that." My mom giggled, wiping her hands on her dress before greeting Carlos, Felicity and Wyatt.

"Hey Jack." My dad chuckled, kissing my forehead.

"Hey dad." I smiled.

"Grandpapi tell us a story about your sea adventures!" Maddie laughed, cuddling the cushion she had picked up once we entered the living room. Phoenix and Casper were sat either side of her listening intently to the story that was about to unfold. Felicity and Wyatt, were talking quietly to each other and stealing kissed every now and then. My mom had gone down to check the how the food was in the kitchen and I sat with Carlos, hands intertwined.

"I can't believe how lucky I got in life." Carlos whispered, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I fiddled with my wedding band and looked up at him.

Even after 20 years his cheeky face still gave me tingles.

"I love you Mr DeVil." I whispered.

He kissed me, like it was the last time he was to kiss me.

"I love you Mrs DeVil!"
