Chapter 3
They're coming to my house today.
The camera crews, to film some kind of background story on me or something.
I should have known that this would be a part of the show, as all reality T.V. these days makes you either love or hate the contestants. I wonder what angle they are going to take on me. I sure hope it's a good one.
The last thing I would want, would be to be hated by the rest of the world.
"Hold still, will you?" Hollie mutters, using a firm pale hand to hold up my chin as she cakes it in the lightest foundation in existence.
I sigh, when I told Caden and Hollie that I had been selected as one of the sixteen contestants to be a part of Dexterity, they had both gone wild. To say the least.
I think the first thing Caden shouted was along the lines of, 'Ha! I told you so!', and they'd been interested in every tiny detail since.
Although I haven't really been told much, the whole show is going to be as much of a surprise to me as it is to the public. But I went ahead and signed the sheets of paper agreeing to let me go on anyway, my mother and father did too, as we all agreed that this shot to win $100,000, is not something to pass up.
As soon as I sent back the sheets of paper I was contacted instantly and told that a camera crew would be coming to my house within a few days to collect some footage for the show. That day has now come, and I've got to admit, the sick feeling in my stomach is trying to tell me something. I'm nervous.
"Ow!" I gasp, as Caden jabs a mascara caked wand into the side of my temple.
Hollie groans, strands of her hair tumbling falling in front of her grey eyes as she shakes her head in disgust at my inability to stay still for a fragment of time and at whatever Caden is doing.
I would, but I'm just worried about that black mascara wand, it looks like it could skewer my eyeball especially with Caden holding it. Why is he holding it anyway?!
"Caden, you need to put that thing down!" I cry.
"I was just trying to help." He mutters, shoving the mascara wand into my hand and striding over to my bed, flopping down onto it. Hollie and Caden had both 'self invited' themselves over this morning, to help me get ready for the camera crew. I guess I have to be grateful that they are here, otherwise I would probably be makeup free and a disgusting looking excuse for a human being when the crew came. Well, I'm grateful that Hollie is good at that, Caden...Not so much.
I squint my pale blue eyes as I stare into my bedroom mirror, carefully sweeping the wand over my eyelashes until they are dark and full.
"Seems someones skills with a paintbrush just came in handy." I can see Hollie smiling from the reflection in my bedroom mirror as she inspects my handiwork from where she is sitting cross legged on my duvet. Painting and makeup aren't that different, you need skill, precision and a good palette to pull off your desired look.
"Right, I'm going to do the rest!" Hollie declares, getting up off my bed and coming back to join me. Almost immediately, she begins to poke and prod at my face again, telling me to look up at the ceiling, or to the left, as she continues the long tiresome process of doing my makeup.
