Polaroids

George sat on the extra chair we had set up. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity, I grabbed my Polaroid and took a selfie with Emily and George.

"Whoa you guys! This looks awesome!" I said as I put the  picture in this leather case I have for printed Polaroids.

We had this sense for photography. If there were a cool shot, say, the view out of a window on a cloudy day, we would not hesitate in snapping a picture and sharing it.

"You and that Polaroid." Said George.

"Don't act like you're not totally jealous if it!"

"Well that I am."

"Haha. There's nothing better than having a classic Polaroid. You have that guitar of yours. Which I'm totally jealous of. Although I know how to play the beginning of like, three songs." I proudly said.

The sun was already setting. Only a few inches until the sun touched the horizon. I liked Emily's house. It had sort of an estival feel to it.

"You guys it's pretty quiet, don't you think?" Asked Emily.

"Here." Emily said as she turned on her boom box and set it to the radio. 'Shut up and dance' by Walk The Moon was on.

I got up, ran towards the pool and jumped in.

"Oh my god you almost got my boom box wet!" Screamed Emily.

"Get in weenies!" I yelled.

George and Emily soon followed. How I wished that evening could have lasted forever. Night came at about 7 PM.

"Hey, maybe this will set the scene." Emily said as she flicked a switch and her backyard illuminated with the lights of a million little lightbulbs hanging off little palm trees.

"Whoa! Emily, you sure have a cool backyard!"

"Well, Adam, yours isn't horrible!" She remarked.

"Okay then I guess."

Soon my leather case started filling up with printed Polaroids. That day was forever recorded onto photographs. The day ended as we said our goodbyes and headed home. Ours lives were complete that day.

Days went by as normal. Every other weekend we would hang out where ever, just hang out. And so I saw George every day. Junior year came and we were sort of relieved that our high school sentences were about to end. Not really, we still had our senior year left. Looking back, those 7th through 10th grade years went by in a flash. It was now the week before spring break.

That same spot where we always were at lunch, that's where most of our years happened. We were almost out of high school. Emily got a thing for painting and George developed a habit of quoting movies during conversations.

"What did you get for number seven?" asked Emily. We were at my house catching up on homework that was due the next day.

"I got 23.4" responded George.

"Me too."

"Oh okay, I got it right then."

I can't believe it's been all this time and I haven't confessed my love to him. Although, there is a part of me that doesn't want to tell him. No confession. No heartbreak.

"Emily, I'm sleeping over on Friday. And Saturday. And Sunday. Maybe, all next week."said George.

"Whoa thanks for asking."
