"Uh, Balz," Ricky started nervously. "What is that?"
"Oh, that's this really obscure painting done by one of our customers," Balz explained. "He has a pretty dark and dreary imagination."
"No, not the painting," Ricky said, shaking his head. "That."
"What are you looking at?" Balz questioned.
"That," Ricky repeated, pointing to the left corner of the room. All that was there was a black curtain, but Ricky was seeing something more.
"Uh... A black curtain?" Balz responded.
"Do you not see what else is there?" Ricky asked.
"No," Balz replied. "It's probably nothing."
"You're probably right," Ricky said after a moment, shaking his head a bit. His mind just loved to play tricks on him, and this must've just been another one.
Ricky continued to follow Balz through the stockroom, but still noticed some little abnormalities here and there. And no, they weren't the abnormalities that Balz was selling.
"G-Ghost?" Ricky asked under his breath, spotting the ghastly boy across the room.
"Huh?" Balz asked, turning his head.
Ricky simply raised his arm and pointed to Devin, who was smirking devilishly.
"Shit," Balz muttered. "What are you doing in here?" he inquired, raising his voice for Devin to hear.
"Just having a bit of fun," Devin snickered. "I'm just exploring the place. It's not like I'm doing any harm."
"You're making Ricky uncomfortable, actually," Balz said. "You know you're not welcome here, Ghost."
"Really?" Devin asked. "Since when?"
"Since this fucking place was built," Balz replied. "You need to get lost."
"I'm afraid I can't do that," Devin smirked. "I've been stuck in this shithole town for my entire life, and I'm still stuck here years after my death. It's impossible for me to really get lost."
"Stop being such a smartass, and get the fuck out of my shop," Balz spat.
"And why should I?" Devin questioned, stepping out of the shadows a bit.
"Because you know what could happen to you," Balz responded. "My friends and I have taken you down before, and we could do it again if you don't leave us alone."
"Oh, please," Devin scoffed. "You people barely did anything. If you 'took me down' before, then why am I still here?"
"Just leave us alone, Ghost!" Balz shouted.
"Ugh, fine," Devin sighed. "But I'm not staying away forever. You can expect to see me around again soon."
------------------------------------------
"Alright, why the fuck did Ghost show up at my shop today?" Balz asked, stepping into Angelo and Ryan's house.
"Jesus Christ, why didn't you lock the door?" Angelo asked his husband.
"I did lock it," Ryan responded.
"Guys, are you forgetting that I know where you keep the spare key?" Balz chuckled, holding up the spare key that was previously hidden on their porch.
"Right, right, sorry," Angelo said. "You were saying something about Ghost?"
"He was in my shop today," Balz explained. "In the stockroom. Ricky had shown up, and I was showing him around, and he saw Ghost."
"What was he even doing there?" Angelo questioned.
"Well, Ricky was looking for a job," Balz started. "But I don't know about Ghost. He was just hiding in the corner of the room, in the shadows."
"What reason would he have to be just hiding out in your shop?" Angelo asked.
"I have no clue," Balz sighed.
"He could've been there for Ricky," Ryan spoke up.
"What do you mean?" Balz inquired.
"He didn't show up until after Ricky got there, correct?" Ryan asked.
"Yeah," Balz said. "What does that have to do with anything?"
"Think about it," Ryan began. "This whole 'haunting' shit didn't start until Ricky moved here. Ghost payed a visit to him just the other day. He could've showed up at your shop just to torment Ricky."
"Why is he even trying to torment, Ricky, though?" Angelo asked curiously.
"I don't know," Ryan replied. "That's what I'm trying to figure out."
-----------------------------------------
"I know you're in here," Ricky said shakily.
However, he was met with silence.
"Come on, answer me," Ricky groaned. "Don't act like you didn't follow me home."
A smirk made its way onto Devin's face as he slowly began to show himself. However, he only showed the left side of his body, And then, that started to fade away, leaving only his arm in the atmosphere.
"Stop trying to play mind games with me!" Ricky shouted. "Just show yourself."
But yet again, all that was there was silence.
"Please, Ghost, I know you're here. You must be here," Ricky said softly. "Please just show yourself to me. Remind me that I'm not going crazy."
Ghost still refused to reply, and still wouldn't show himself. He was, in fact, there, he just didn't want to give in so easily. The first encounter was different. Now, Ghost just wanted to have some fun messing with the new guy in town, even if that meant slowly driving him mad.
Ghost headed into the room next door, and decided to make a ruckus in there. He knocked a handful of unbreakable items onto the floor, then made the wind rustle the window shades.
"Seriously, Ghost?" Ricky groaned, standing up from the couch, and heading into the next room, picking up the mess that Devin had made. "Alright, where'd you go now?"
Devin was already across the house, and he had found Ricky's cat. Devin would've liked to continue messing with poor Ricky, but cats were one of his weaknesses. He just couldn't help himself, he had to play around with it.
He made himself visible, and kneeled down next to the cat. He slowly reached his hand out for the cat to sniff him, then proceeded to pet him, causing him to purr softly.
"Ghost, I know you're around here somewhere," Ricky called. He was getting closer to finding Devin.
Ricky's cat was rubbing on Devin's leg soon after, with Devin still scratching his head.
"Ha! I found you!" Ricky exclaimed. "What do you think you're doing with Dexter?"
"It looks like you caught me," Devin said, looking up at Ricky. "And I'm just giving him some love."
"I think he gets enough love from me," Ricky scoffed. "Now, come on, leave him alone, and stop messing with me."
"Aw, but he seems to really like me," Devin pouted.
"That's too bad," Ricky said. "Leave him alone."
"If I must," Devin sighed. "But I won't be leaving you alone. Anytime soon, that is."
