"So, that's it?" Devin inquired. "That's all we're doing, setting them free like that? After everything we had to go through?"
"Yep," Kuza replied. "We couldn't have just killed them. News would spread far too quickly of their deaths in that small town, and everyone would obviously suspect that the supernatural had something to do with it. And then they'd probably do something awful to Ricky, considering he's been here with us, thinking that he'd been possessed or some shit. And, besides, the whole point of all that was to prove that we aren't as bad as they think we are."
"But how to you know they'll even keep their promises to you?" Devin asked.
"Come on, do you really think they have the guts to mess with a demon?" Kuza chuckled. "I scared the shit out of them the first time they were here, and just a few minutes ago, we had them locked up in an enchanted cage. I'm sure that if they don't end up keeping all three promises, they'll at least keep their mouths shut."
"I guess you have a point," Devin laughed along. "So, uh, hey, could we talk about something?"
"Uh, sure," Kuza nodded. "What's up, man?"
"Well, it's about Ricky," Devin started.
"What about Ricky?" Kuza inquired.
"Well, he's a human," Devin began to explain. "He's not immortal like the rest of us. And he has no power whatsoever. That second detail isn't as big of a problem as the first one, though. You see, I'm stuck at the age I was when I died: 22; but, Ricky will continue to age without any powers or immortality. And when he does die, he probably won't be cursed to walk the Earth for eternity. His spirit will more than likely go peacefully."
"What are you trying to get at here, Ghost?" Kuza sighed.
"I'm trying to get at the fact that... Well, I'd like for Ricky to get a power transplant," Devin replied.
"W-What?" Kuza spluttered. "Ghost, we haven't done a power transplant in, what, thousands of years? Who knows what could happen if we try it again after all this time?"
"It was just a suggestion," Devin responded, holding his hands up in defeat. "I just figured it would be easier for Ricky and I to stay together if he got a power transplant, that's all."
"Look, Ghost, I'm not even sure anyone in these woods can even remember how to do one," Kuza exhaled.
"I'm sure somebody has to," Devin said. "Come on, we can at least try."
"Fine, we can try," Kuza huffed. "But I can't promise you anything. I can't guarantee that Ricky can fully become one of us."
"It's a deal," Devin grinned. "As long as we try, I'm happy."
--------------------------------------------
"Look, Ricky, we're seriously so sorry about everything that's happened since you got here," Angelo told him as the five of them headed back into town. "It was just always our natural instinct to fear the supernatural. We couldn't help it."
"It's fine," Ricky sighed in response. "As long as Ghost and I can still be together."
"You can," Chris grumbled. "Just, if he tries anything weird with you, let us know. We can take care of him."
"I highly doubt that he would do anything to hurt me, Chris," Ricky replied, rolling his eyes. "But thank you for the concern."
"I just..." Chris started. "I just don't get why you fell for a ghost. I mean, how did you not fear him when he just appeared in your house out of nowhere?"
"Well, I mean, I did fear him at first," Ricky explained. "But once he came back, I realized that he really didn't seem harmful or anything. He just really liked to mess with my head. Other than that, he was really friendly towards me. I fell for his personality, I guess."
"You're sure there's no voodoo trickery shit involved?" Chris asked skeptically.
"Positive," Ricky chuckled.
"Look, Chris, that Kuza guy was right, okay?" Angelo said to him. "We really don't have a valid reason to fear any of them. We just can't help but judge them purely on the fact that they're not human. But, Ricky was able to see past that, and, I honestly admire him for it."
"Thank you, Ange," Ricky grinned. "If only Chris could understand that."
"I do understand it," Chris replied. "I just don't want to believe it."
"Chris, you can't just go through life acting so ignorant," Ryan spoke up. "We all learned a valuable lesson today. Why can't you just bring yourself to accept it? Those creatures aren't going to hurt us, and they've already proved it. Do you really think we would still be here right now if they didn't prove their point?"
"I know, I know, I get it," Chris exhaled. "I just can't believe how wrong I was about them. How wrong we all were. It just doesn't make sense to me that we could go all our lives believing that they were so violent, when in reality, we were the ones being violent and hostile towards them. I just can't help but feel like there has to be more to it."
"Maybe there is," Angelo said to him. "But, it's not our job to find out."
------------------------------------------
Once the five of them returned to town, Chris decided it would be for the best if he simply kept his promises to Kuza. He didn't feel like dying quite yet.
He met up with the town's mayor, who actually happened to be a good friend of his, and explained what happened, letting him know that the creatures living in the woods were harmless, being completely truthful in doing so. The mayor wasn't quite sure if he could believe what Chris was telling him, but he trusted him enough to take his word for it. He then made a public announcement about it all to the town, and although some townsfolk refused to believe him, the people agreed to allow the supernatural to trespass into the town without a fuss.
The humans and the creatures were finally reaching a turning point, and beginning to get along, even if it was just the slightest bit. And the humans were finally starting to realize, that the ones hosting the disturbia were not those who interacted with the creatures, but those who refused to even try to understand them.
(A/N: Guys I can't believe this is pretty much finished (there's still an epilogue though don't worry). This was the first full fic out of the three that I've published so far that I started writing, and I'm so thankful that you all read and enjoyed it. The epilogue will be out next week, and like I said before, I'll have three new stories being published by the end of the summer.)
