A/N: Hey guys! This is my first story on wattpad so far. I loooove this website. So... please enjoy it! I will upload more soon.
General P.OV./Prologue
Kailey woke up from the great dream she was having. Stupid alarm clock, she thought. She slammed the snooze button, trying to recollect her dream. Nick was just about to kiss her... ah, it was hopeless.
"Kailey, get dressed and come eat breakfast!" Her mom yelled.
Sighing, Kailey pulled on a white sundress, a pink coral necklace, and a pair of light pink flip-flops to match the necklace. She tightly pulled her golden hair in a braid, put a little mascara on her hazel eyes, and skipped down the stairs, still half way lost in her dreams. Downstairs, she quickly gulped down her smoothie and ran out the door, realizing she would be late if she didn't get a move on. Unfortanetly, her mother never drove her to school and she wouldn't be 16 for another month. As soon as she got outside, she broke into a full on sprint.
"Kale!"
"Hey, Renee," Kailey's best friend, Renee, always waited for her outside. They had been best friends since first grade, when they first met, "Wonderful weather we're having, huh?"
"I'll say," Renee replied. This had always been they're little joke, seeing as Renee was about a foot shorter than Kailey.
Suddenly, the bell rang, and Kailey and Renee gave each other one last final glance before taking off in separate directions. Kailey ran down the hall, not wanting to be late to her favorite class. Kailey snuck in the band room and slid into the piano. You see, band would usually be her least favorite class, but she had it with-
"Hi, Nick," Kailey said, gazing into his deep brown eyes, "Did you get a hair cut? It looks nice."
"Oh, yeah, I did. Thanks," Nick replied, running his hand through his dark brown hair, "See ya after warm ups." he said. Kailey nodded in reply.
Kailey played a few scales with the band and finished rather quickly. Kailey's whole life was piano. Every night she would go home and practice for at least two hours, hence why she was the piano player in the band. The best part was, so was Nick. She had a duet with him in the band, and they shared a piano, sitting so close their knees almost, just almost touched.
Time flew, and before she knew it band was over. Now she had to suffer through the rest of the day, and dream about tomorrow in band.
CHAPTER 2
"WHAT? YOU CAN'T COME? BUT KAILEY!"
"Renee, I'm sorry. Calm down. I have a piano lesson. I'm sorry, I did promise you that I would, but it turns out Messiour Raoul wants me there so I can prepare for the competition Saturday."
"But Kailey...." she whined, "We always go out for pizza and a movie on Fridays. You can't break tradition! Come on, can't you skip, just this once? I mean, you're always at piano, and.... please?"
"I'm sorry, Re. It breaks my heart to say I can't come but... it's a lesson with Nick," I say, trying to hide the excitement in my voice, but even I could tell I was failing.
"Ooooo, Kale's gotta crush on Niiiiiick!"
"Shut up! Ok, maybe I do, but so what? It's not like he'd ever like me back. I mean, he's all popular and I'm just... me."
"Aw, Kalers, when the right guy comes around he'll love you for just being you. Now, in the meantime you've got a crush on Nick to go see to, so I'll let you be. But you better not miss next Friday! Love ya chica!" and with that, Renee hung up the phone.
Sighing, Kailey went off to practice the piano. She picked a song, Sonata in Bb, and played her heart out. When Kailey played, it was like nothing else in the world mattered. She was just pulling in the final notes when she heard a loud clapping from behind her. She whirled around, and came face to face with a certain gorgeous dude with brown eyes and brown hair.
"Bravo, good job Kailey. You really sounded great. Our duet will be awesome. Want to practice it?"
"Oh, um, thanks, and yeah, okay, we can practice....But, how did you get in my house?"
"Oh.... um, just through the front door... and DON'T ask how I knew where you lived!"
"Right... Let's just practice."
15 tortured and blissful moments later, Kailey and Nick were finished playing their duet. It tortured Katie to be this close to Nick without actually touching him, and it was so blissful being this close to him. I seriously need to sort out my feelings, Kailey thought.
Nicks P.O.V.
I heard the music coming from her house again. She had no idea that I kept listening to her play piano, but I couldn't resist coming to her house every day after school let out to hear her play a sweet sonata or jazzy blues song. I played as well, but nothing compared to the feeling Kailey put in her music. She just made it... work. I couldn't resist-I had to see her. Now.
As I entered through the (luckily unlocked) door, I silently took a seat on the couch behind her. She was playing flawlessly. As soon as she was through the piece, I needed to say something... anything...
"Bravo, good job Kailey. You really sounded great. Our duet will be awesome. Want to practice it?" I needed to feel her knee against my knee.
She was hesitant at first before answering, "Oh, um, thanks, and yeah, we can practice, but... How did you get in my house?"
"Oh, um.... just through the front door... and DON'T ask how I knew where you lived," Crap, did I just say that last part out loud?
Sounding creeped out, Kailey replied, "Right... let's just practice."
The next 15 minutes tortured me. I loved being that close to Kailey, but it wasn't close enough. I need to tell her how I feel. I needed to tell her how much I loved her. I didn't know how, though. Okay, deep breath, then you'll ask her out on the count of three. One. Two. Thr-
BRRRRRIIIINNNNNGGG!!! BRRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGG!!!! BRRRRRRIIIINNNNNNGGG!!!!
"Oh, sorry," I said, "I should probably take this...." Kailey nods, looks down, and looks... disappointed?
"Hello?" I ask, stepping out, "No... no, we'll still be there. In L.A.? Well... let me tell her. Yeah, hang on. I'll call you back."
"Kailey?"
"Hm?"
"We're going to Los Angeles."
