CHAPTER 2

Kailey's P.O.V.

"Kailey! Wake up! Brush those teeth! Get dressed! Get ready to go! Our flight leaves at 3 this afternoon!"

"Nick?" I say groggily, "Nick?! What are you doing in my room at... 4 in the morning? Oh, jeez. Just let me sleep 5 more minutes..."

"Rise and shine, princess of sleep. It's time to go to LA! You excited? I see you've already packed, and I took the liberty of taking your bags downstairs. You're welcome."

"How can I ever repay you, you're my night in shining armor..." I say with deep sarcasm, "Now, knight, it's time to get out of my room so this princess can get dressed."

Nick slips out of the room, winking and teasing, "Oh, and by the way, you're totally rocking the princess hair."

Groaning, I hop out of bed, quickly shower in record speed, get dressed in a flowy cream colored crop top with jeans, cowgirl boots, and I pull up my hair in a high pony. Totally rocking the rancher girl look! I pop in my contacts and brush my teeth, and take the stairs two at a time to sit down to breakfast with (scream!) Nick.

"Hey, Kal. Hair looks better," Nick teases, winking.

"Oh, totally. Wait... did you call me Kal?"

"Yeah, is that okay?" he asks, looking genuinely concerned.

"Um... yeah, that's fine, it's just that's... what my sister used to call me before... before..." I feel the tear slide down my cheek before I turn away. How embarrassing.

"Kailey? I'm sorry, I shouldn't of... I shouldn't of called you that. I won't anymore, I really am sorry," he says, placing a gentle yet firm hand on my shoulder.

"No, no, I overreacted. It's just... it's kind of nice hearing someone call me that again. Please do, I like it," I say, mustering up a smile.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Um... No, no, but.... I might take you up on that offer a little bit later."

"Sounds good. So, are you ready to go catch that flight? I still can't believe we get to perform our piano duet in front of millions in Los Angeles... and the best part is, everything is paid for! Including food!"

"Men! You're all the same- all you care about is food!"

"Hey, you know what they say-the best way to a mans heart is to his stomach!" Nick says, laughing. I can't help but join him-his smile is contagious.

"I'll have to remember that!" I yell.

Nick suddenly gets serious, "Kal."

"Nick?"

"You.... you light up this whole room when you laugh. You're beautiful, inside and out," he looks down, blushing and embarrassed, "I don't know why I said that. It's true, though. I just thought you should know that."

"Thanks, Nick," I say, smiling on the outside but grinning and dancing on the inside."

"Kal?"

"Yeah?"

"...................Never mind. Let's.... let's go to the airport now. We don't want to be late for security, after all!" he finishes with a grin, and he reaches out to tousle my hair which I immediately fix out of habit.

"Oh, don't like that, do we?" Nick says mischievously. He reaches up and keeps tousling my hair the whole ride to the airport, even in his run down, beat up, pick up truck.

In the airport, we obviously have to go through security. Here's the thing- I've never been on an airplane. Too scary. I'm afraid of heights.

"Kal? You've never been on an airplane have you? Let me help you with security."

Nick takes my bags, puts them on the assembly belt thingy, and walks me through the gateway that looks like a death walk. Afterwards, we collects our things and find a seat.

"Now we wait," Nick says.

The last thing I remember is resting my head on his shoulder and falling fast asleep.

A/N: Pic on the side is Kailey.  Isn't she pretty? :).  Sorry, no song... but maybe i'll put one in later.  'nough said.
