I followed Marcus as Miky cleaned and put the dishes in the dish washer. He lead me down through multiple hallways before opening a plain white door. I peered inside as he stepped aside and flipped a switch.
I marveled at how much room there was. A king-sized bed sat in the the middle of the wall behind the door and several boxes littered the opposite wall. "Unfortunately, we don't have either of the quest bedrooms set up, and I don't think you want to sleep in Miky's room. So I suppose you'll be sleeping in here with me for now.
I simply nodded and went to the corner on the same wall as the bed. "Where are going? You know you're supposed to sleep in the bed right?" I looked at him shocked. "M-m-me? I-in a bed?" I looked from him to the bed like it would eat me if I got too close.
"Well yeah. Have you never slept in a bed before?" Marcus stared at me waiting for an answer. "Not in a r-really long t-time." I answered quietly. "Oh." Marcus looked the other way before walking over to a piece of brown furniture. He did something to and electronic box with numbers on it before heading over to sit on the bed. I still stood in the corner again unsure of what I should do.
Marcus seemed to notice when he looked at me and offered a smile as he patted his hand on the bed beside him. Slowly I walked over and attempted to get up on the bed, but my muscles were still much too weak and the bed was too tall. I heard Marcus chuckle as he got up and came over to where I was standing on the other side of the bed.
I let out a squeak when he picked me up under the arms as if I were a small child, and put me on the bed. The navy blue sheets were soft and comforting, and the blankets billowed out around me as I carefully scaled the bed up to the headboard. I squealed again and clutched onto the bed for dear life when Marcus got on the bed and I felt like I was being thrown in the air.
He laughed and I just sat there a shaking mess as I slowly let go, only to grab onto the headboard. I held on tighter as the bed moved again; Marcus moved aside the blanket to crawl underneath them before rolling onto his side to face me. "Well; you gonna lay down or what?" Now that the bed had stopped moving, I was more than happy to oblige.
I shakily moved the covers just as he had done, careful to remain a few feet away so as to give him his room. I curled into a ball under the covers and shivered from the warmth; I had fallen asleep before long.
When I woke up, I couldn't help but to snuggle up to the thing beside me radiating warmth. I folded my ears down against my head and nuzzled my face against it, pulling my body closer to it. I hummed my approval and I curled my tail around it; I thought for sure I was dreaming right then. There was no possible way I could have been warm; after I had been locked in my room last I knew.
I couldn't help the cry of surprise when my heated object chuckled; I flew backwards in surprise trying to get away. I only succeeded in falling off the bed in a jumble of blankets. By then I was struggling my hardest to break free of my restraints, but no matter where I turned there was always something blocking my sight.
I hard the slight creak of the bed, and began struggling more as I hear footsteps near me. "Hey hey, calm down; it's okay, nothing's gonna hurt you." At first I didn't recognize the voice and ignored what it said, I didn't want to feel anymore pain. "Tsula!" I stopped in my task of getting free and froze at the tone of his voice.
I felt the blanket move and fall away bit by bit until I could see my surroundings. And the first thing I saw was Marcus's smiling face. The it all came rushing back to me as a flood. I was found by Miky; she let me out and brought me inside her home. I had slept in a bed; I had been given a fresh start. I had traded my old life of living down in the dark when I came up here; I'd traded it for a new life.
