For the rest of that night I stayed in Marcus' bedroom; I didn't even come out when Miky asked me to. Whenever someone came to the door, I would disappear under the bed or in the closet. I'd become paranoid of Kacy getting his hands on me if he found me; even Marcus didn't touch me unless he had too.
Marcus woke me up early the next morning to go get something to eat while everyone else was asleep. We snuck down the stairs careful to be as quiet as possible. Marcus led the way into the kitchen where he made a couple of sandwiches and grabbed a couple of protein bars.
We both ate in silence, neither of us knowing what to say. I was so lost in my own thoughts and Marcus was digging in the fridge for a drink; we didn't hear the shuffling of feet. It wasn't until Marcus had leaned back against the table that I actually heard them.
I froze and waited for them to pass, but they only got closer. I jumped up and bolted to the other side of the table and stood in front of Marcus to hide when a hand reached around my waist. Marcus looked at me before slowly turning around and eyeing Kacy like he had the plague.
My eyes never left his for a moment. Kacy slowly came around the table and I edged towards the other way to avoid being on the same side. Kacy smirked and winked at me from across the table.
"Leave him alone Kacy." Marcus was glaring at Kacy; daring him to make a move. "Hey relax bro, I mean it's not like he's already been taken. If he's not marked then he's free game as far as I'm concerned." Kacy had a sly look on his face as he spoke. "And since the little fox has come out of his den, maybe he'd like to play a game of chase." He looked over towards me, but I said nothing. I didn't want him getting any ideas; I didn't even like him back.
At this point, I wasn't sure if I liked anybody. "Back off Kacy." Marcus warned. "He's off limits." "Ooh, scary." Kacy teased Marcus seeming to get a kick out of his reactions. I went to go try to make a run for it, but Kacy was quicker and blocked my way. Marcus went to try and grab for me to pull me away, but I was already coming for him.
It'd been an amazing transformation that I'd gone through here in these pass few weeks. At first I thought I was too far gone to be helped, but Marcus and Miky didn't give up. They actually cared for me; they wanted to be around me. They wanted to be my friend, and for that, there were no words to describe how thankful I was to them. Considering at the start; I was completely terrified of Marcus given his size. But now I looked to him for protection and safety.
Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough and Kacy managed to latch onto my arm and jerked me back towards him. He wrapped both arms around my waist and nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck. All the while I struggled; Marcus stood in front a couple of feet back grinding his teeth together.
Kacy raised his hand up and ran his thumb over my bottom lip before going on to stroke be cheek. Just then something snapped in me and the next thing I knew I was cowering behind Marcus. Kacy cursed and held his hand to his chest, and I could see a small stream of blood pour from around his fingers. Marcus looked down at me with a shocked look, and I looked at him, but confusion was written all over mine.
"He bit me! He seriously just bit me!" "Well then maybe you shouldn't be such and asshole." Kacy glared at Marcus and moved from the doorway to the counter to clean his wound. He grumbled something unintelligent under his breath as Marcus and I left and returned upstairs. "Glad that's over. You alright?" "Yeah I'm fine." I paused for a moment looking down at the floor before raising my head to look at Marcus. "Hey Marcus?" He walked across the room to the TV and grabbed the remote.
"Did I really bite Kacy?" He turned to look at me as set the remote on the bed before coming over to me. "Yeah you kinda did. Well, there's really no kinda to it Tsula. Fact is, you bit Kacy." Marcus looked down at me, and I flattened my ears against my head as I looked down in shame. "I'm sorry." "For what?" Marcus sounded as though I weren't supposed to be apologizing. "For biting Kacy."
