Dear Sue,
I see the vulnerability in your eyes,
The crooked line when you smile
It's very trivial... like an imagination that was made up
You do well with the make-up,
Extensively cover up the flaws that you think you got.

In your head you hear their negative voices,
Barking judgements and false standards
So you set up goals that compromise your actual worth.
What's that for a cliche? Settling for less cuz it's what fits you in.
I know this, cuz I've been you... Until the dawning revelation
That I was meant to branch out, grow out;
Stand out and be about.

But you've heard this before, this ain't nothing new.
Society conforms to trends and specified normalities,
And of recent seeming deep and philosophical is the new cool.
IG pages of yoga, eating right, and passionate msgs are floating everywhere,
So you laugh out loud at these ones out here tryna be sincere.
Truth is I get it, cuz I get you.

How can you tell vain from depth;
When depth is being used to cloak what's vain...
Genuine and honesty being replaced for "bad assess and bitches."
Too much confusion about what's "dope," you forget that what really matters is what's "proper"?
So you switch up your vocab, spilling words like hoes and thots to describe a sister who's just like you

Dear Sue,
I see you. Cos you're me and I, you.
And in a world of chaotic reality TV shows
Know this, I'm with you.
No matter how hard the world tries to mold us,
Let's continue to find identity in ourselves.
Dear Sue, be true.
