"One day which now seems like a lifetime ago things took a turn for the worst, we came back after getting supplies and were greeted by an unpleasant surprise. Andrew was stood in an aggressive stance, as was Sarah, Anna's mother who was to the left of her husband. "What's wrong Andrew? Is Anna and Sarah alright?" My dad asked, worry laced his voice. "I'm sorry" Andrew spoke in a monotone voice as he stepped forward. "What are you doing?" my mother panicked. Andrew kept walking forward, it wasn't until too late that I saw the light glimmer on a large kitchen knife. Andrew started hacking at my dad as Sarah rushed towards my mother, I didn't know what to do, who to help as I rushed towards my dad trying to stop Andrew doing anymore damage, there was blood everywhere."

"There was a scream as I looked over towards my mother who was clutching her abdominal as blood oozed out between her fingers. The life drained from her face as her soul left her body. She was dead. Gone forever. I stood shocked and destroyed by the image in front of me as I was tackled to the ground. I look up a bit dazed as I try to figure out what happened. I then realised I too had been attacked by someone I trusted. Anna had me pinned down to the floor as she inched a blade of some sort to my neck, I tried to push her off of me but her grip was too tight. The blade pierced my skin as blood trickled down my neck into my hair. I realised I had to get her off me soon or I'd share the same fate as my mother. I pushed her as hard as I could which knocked her off the top of me as well as hitting her head on the wall adjacent to me, this makes her loose her focus. I took this as my opportunity to escape. Andrew looked up as the sound of his daughter hitting the floor. He stood up, my father barely conscious, as he stepped over him. I looked down to my dad as I seen movement. He grabbed Andrews leg to hold him back. "Run Alexis, I love you" my dad forced out with the last bit of energy he had left. "I love you too" I choked out. With one last look at my father and lifeless mother I ran. I ran as fast as my legs would carry me. Until I came to a holt at the front door. I unlocked and opened the door, as I ran though the doorway I felt a sharp sensation down my back as I felt a cold liquid run down my body. But I kept running, it wasn't until I was down the road that I had a glance over my shoulder as I saw Andrew with a fierce look on his face, knife in hand, completely covered in blood." I finish telling them, while lifting the back of my shirt up revealing my hideous scar.

George reaches out for my hand and holds it. "You may think that because your family were killed you are all alone, but we're here for you, to us you're part of our family now, we will always be grateful for what you did for Cindy" George says as he tries to comfort me. His words are nice, they make me feel less alone in this destroyed world. Maybe not everyone is as bad as I thought but I don't think I'll fully trust anyone else again at least not for a very long time. "You're like the sister I never had" Cindy says as she looks up at me. "Aw, that's sweet" I say in response to this a little lost for words.

"I'm hungry" George says attempting to change the topic of conversation. "Me too" Cindy agrees. "I don't think there's any food here, we'll have to go find some somewhere else" I say as my stomach rumbles at the thought of food. I grab my backpack and place the photo into it along with a few other items such as my hairbrush and a locket that my mother had given to me a few years ago on my birthday. "Okay let's go then, I'm ready" I say as I walk out of my bedroom door.

On the way out of the house we walk past The Infected that we had killed earlier. "Look at its leg" I say as I notice that one of The infected's legs has been cut halfway through above what appears to be a bite mark. I search the room with my eyes and notice that next to one of the blood stains is a hand saw. "Look at that, they must have been bitten and tried to cut their leg off, but it looks like they were unsuccessful before they became Infected with the virus, turns out they weren't as brave as they thought" I say as I begin piece the evidence together. "That must be how the others became Infected" George adds. "I can't say I'm sorry after what they did to me, they deserved it" I say bitterly. Cindy nods her head in agreement but George just looks at me not knowing what to say to that.

"I can honestly say I never want to come back here again" I say firmly as I shut the door for the very last time.
