I woke up when a loud crash reached my ears. On instinct I tried to jump up but an unsettling pain coursed through my arm. Looking to the right made a new found panic grow, my arms and legs were bound. Looking around, I saw a high ceiling. My surroundings were clinical, tables full of bottled coloured liquids. The room was spacious but somehow it made me panic.
"Another one Alena?! I thought we agreed on this!" Alena?.. Isn't that the name of the lady who asked my mother to hand me over? "She's different Alec! I feel it in my bones!" A voice of a younger woman retorted "That's what you always say about all of them! How many of them are you going to waste away?! This is cruel Alena!" Waste away? "You wouldn't understand Alec! We might just prove the legends true!"
The door creaked as it opened to reveal a red head and a mid 20's guy. "hello love. I bet you're surprised that you're tied to the bed like this." The red head had a different accent from the usual that I'm accustomed to at home. I wasn't at home. "Who are you, and why am I here?" I looked at them both as the guy, Alec shot me a quick look of sympathy before his expressions turned neutral again. "Feisty, see Alec? She'll survive the transition. Do you feel it? She's radiating with power" Alec looked my way for a second and stared at her for a very long time, his eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Perhaps... For once you're right Alena." He walked closer and lifted my chin up so that our eyes meet and frowned "So much like a siren, so captivating.." Alena pulled him away in a hurry "Alec you're not supposed to!" "But she smells so good Alena. So very appetising" I watched the exchange that happened before my eyes and felt a growing headache as my eyelids became like lead.
"Guess like the anaesthetics are working.. I'll test.... Work on the... Survive" The world slowly faded and I could do nothing to stop it. Alena's words faded.

As I woke up, my breathing was steady and I wasn't panicking. This was.. New. I saw a silhouette working on the table, scribbling on some papers "Hmm.." The dull headache in my head was pounding again, this time harder. I gritted my teeth and tried to move my hands, they were still bound.
The silhouette turned around and stood up, walking to me as I saw Alena walk over to me. "Hello angel, how are you feeling?" I looked at her and weighed various answers. Should I be disrespectful? probably not. Grateful that I'm still alive? Hmm... "Why am I here Alena?" My voice sounded different. it was cracking probably because I hadn't had anything to drink for god knows how long. "Sharp girl. Are your limbs numb?" I nodded.
She unstrapped my legs slowly "Just don't kick me or anything alright? I feel potential in you" I moved my legs slowly, easing out the numb nerves as she unstrapped my hands "Po.. Potential?" She nodded and gave an almost angelic smile "you're brimming with power my dear. And I wish to bring it out. "I what.." She nodded towards the window "Look out, tell me what you see" I needed to clear my doubts. I need to do this. I walked towards to the window to face something I didn't expect. I was nowhere close to earth! I took a deep breathe and stepped back, my legs unable to hold myself up.
"Wh-where are we, Alena?" I looked back to see her behind me "Somewhere no one can find you my dear. But then again, perhaps one day you will soar in humanity again." With that she walked out and closed the only door out of the tower, leaving me on the ground. How am I going to escape?
