So here I lie again on the bed, big and fluffy. Alena has me closely watched even though I'm free to roam wherever I please in the tower. To be honest it's more of a floating castle than a tower. Perks of it was I've never been in a castle and it seems as ancient as everything else looked. Although everything is more sturdy than expected, Since I kicked the walls to see if it would break, only to be bounced back. The island the castle is settled on, has a pretty big patch of land, almost equal to half my kingdom, terram fluentem musica. The land of flowing music. But honestly speaking, the 'guards' follow me everywhere. And those guards.... Are dragons. Some of them are pretty friendly like Mariezia and Garter. They had moved me to a chamber, which was nice.
The others were merely doing their job of watching over me so that I don't run. Although there's nowhere for me to run. we're on a island floating in the sky for goodness's sake! The castle is located at the most eastern side of the island where I could gaze out of the window to watch the endless bed of clouds that go on and on. Alena was reluctant to let me out so I tried Alex instead. Something about me made it easy for him to give in. In exchange he asked for a kiss on the cheek. It was a really weird request thinking back, but hey, I got out. that's what matters right? The first thing I did was to land my feet on what felt- and awfully resembled grass. It was so much of a blessing to be able to run again. Feeling the grass beneath my feet re-attached me to reality. I spent the whole day running and rolling under the sun. It felt great, I felt human again. Not just some locked up prisoner.
Thinking back on what I did today, I felt another smile stretch on my lips. My heart seemed to have lightened and I sighed. All my worries felt like it had melted away for a moment. Then as if on cue, the door to my chamber opened and the clacking of heels interrupted my thoughts, whatever I was thinking about. My heart dropped to my belly as I sat up, looking at Alena. She narrowed her eyes at me "You went out today." I nodded "Yes, I did" perhaps that run today made me feel more confident about everything, even the way I faced Alena. She took a threatening step forward, the clacking of her heel seemed magnified but I wasn't shaken. I slipped off the bed and stood up straight. I'm almost as tall as Alena when she was in her heels.
We stared at each other for a moment before Alena opened her mouth. I stole her opportunity to talk "you can't keep me here forever Alena" She closed her mouth and her lips formed a thin line. "I'm not keeping you here forever, Catherine." I laughed a humourless laugh and looked at her dead in the eyes "Alena. I've been here for days while you run test after test on me. I've went out today, seen how far this goes." I did air quotes when I said 'this'. "This island itself seems somewhat similar to Terram Fluentem Musica. But truthfully? It goes on and on FOREVER" She frowned at my statement "Okay, maybe that's true. it keep creatures here, here. unless they manage to get out of the bounds of the island" I narrowed my eyes at her "Bounds?" She sighed and nodded. "Yes. You see, we've been trying to find an angel. To fly through the bounds, that's the only way out of here. I feel the potential in you"
Something inside me made the feeling of pride grow, yet I was in dismay. An angel? I'm just a human! There's no way I'm ever going to get out of here. I shook my head, this fantasy and reality of everything clashing together, producing sparks in my head. "NO, just no. How do it.. How.. What. I don't have a halo or whatever floating over my head or feathery wings Alena, I am not an angel" She looked at me, studying my every move as she always does. "How did you even talk to my mother if you couldn't escape from the bounds?" She chuckled, for once. "It was a realistic hologram, my dear. Realistic to no look through it. But alas, I have been trapped up here for years, along with these creatures. There used to be more of us until the islands split apart, drifted away" Her tone changed, it was of sadness, forlorn.
"You see," she started again. "You, my dear. You are not exactly an experiment. But a hope. Those I felt potential in, I took them here. But apparently I was wrong," She sighed "They were mere humans, so they aged and died here." I nodded slowly, trying to take in all the information she was spilling to me. "Alex thinks you're just another one of them, mortals. But by the looks of it he always seem too entranced with you. I know you'll be the one" Her last word was flitting by, care free. She gave me a smile, softer than of her usual expressions directed to me normally. "if you could understand, I wouldn't keep you here. The previous mortals, they tried to get out, hurt themselves instead." She bit her lip "I guess that's what Alex is worried of." I nodded. "I.. still think I'm not an angel.. But.. I guess it's not that bad to give it a try, you only live once right?" She looked at me quizzically "Technically angels don't die. But yes, we all only live once." I nodded. This is definitely new to me. "Let's be comrades then? I won't have to worry about your well being 24/7 if you understand the dangers of trying to escape without powers.." I took her hand and shook it "deal"
