In Twilight, there is "romantic love" (though I don't see anything romantic about an abusive stalker boyfriend). And that "love" is able to help them over some their differences (sex and vampirism) and they compromise. Then, they have a cannibal baby and live happily ever after... Forever.
In Harry Potter, there is everlasting love, between family. A mother's love saves her son, and his love saves his friends, whom he grew up with and is fighting for. True, love does trump the evil.
The two books talk about different types of love. Personally, I'd much rather have my mother love me than a man "love" me any day.
