Chapter Nine: How?

About a Month Later.

"Grams, I don't want to wear that! It's uhm... its sooo..... Filthy" ran through Sam's mouth as she stared at the dress in front of her.

"Sweetie, I think it's alright. It suits your personality and plus, your gramps like it, so you've got to wear it" Granny Eleanor raised an eyebrow at her while stating her words. It is very unusual for her 'So-Called' Grandpa to like a Dress for Sam. That is why this was the very best opportunity for her to glam up. But Sam still insist.

"That doesn't convince me Grams" Sam said. But unfortunately, she REALLY likes the dress. It is a kind of cocktail dress minus a petticoat style. It's black and had red see through lace around the waist line. It suits her though, just like Granny Eleanor said. But she rejected the offer because of the main reason why she will be wearing a dress in the first place.

Sam was no longer in Seattle. She is now in Canada. She is completely aware that it isn't the most distant place that she could go but that was the only place her money could take her. But she didn't worry about getting found because she have been in the bus for God knows how long. Then when she got down, she knows that this place is hidden enough for people to see. Big trees and silent road is her community now. No Pollution, No Horn Sounds and most especially No Pain. She is really determine to start a new life here. She have been moping around in different restaurants to find a job but all the dinners aren't hiring. Sam didn't give up even though she have been kicked out in a motel she was staying in for only five days. She found herself sleeping outside of a big and decent house. She didn't really plan on sleeping after being kicked out but her body give in easily. Morning came and she suddenly feel a hand shake on her shoulder. It was Granny Eleanor. She explains her situation on how she ended up sleeping at their gate and the kind old couple welcomed her in their house. Sam rejected the offer at first but the couple insist so here she was. Being force to go on a dinner date with some guy that she didn't really know. A month passed since the first day she have been here. It wasn't that long though. But Sam observed this people who kind of adopted her through those short period time. They're very kind and that was the personality that Sam wouldn't deny. But they are also the type of person who you wouldn't say No too. They just have this sense of humor that really affect Sam. Ever since her stay, the couple try to push her to date someone from the place. But she never really would meet them in person. She'll ALWAYS pretend that she's sick or she's busy. Of course Granny Eleanor and Grandpa Vic know that she really isn't and it brings us to an attitude that Sam could also not ignore when it comes to them, they're understanding. They know when to back off or when to give her the space. She haven't really opened up to them about how she ended up here in Canada. She didn't bring the topic to them. All they know is that she is wasted and her Mom doesn't want her around anymore. She is planning on telling them the truth but every time she'll have the confidence it isn't always a good time. That was kind of a sense of relief to her, because she is not ready to pack her bags and go back. She knows that when she will tell the honest truth she'll get kicked out of the house. So she is just finding the RIGHT time to tell. The time when she is ready to face the reality of her life. But for now, she really needs to calm and live what is  in front of her.

"Look, I know it is hard for you to go out without our company but it's just for one night! It wouldn't be that bad! Please, just wear the dress and fix your hair then go out the door." Granny said slightly irritated.

"Ughhh!!" she groan. "Fine! But only because gramps likes it" She confirmed on a little mumble.

Granny Eleanor smiled wildly at her, handed her dress and went out of her room. Granny Eleanor can't believe that she convinced her in this date thing. She have been trying to do this since she got here. Sam is a very beautiful girl and she deserves a person who will admire that about her. Granny Eleanor and Grandpa Vic knows what is going through Sam's life when they first see her. They just didn't say it to her because they know it wasn't for the best. It was definitely obvious that she escaped through her hometown because of heartbreak. So now they are trying to cover a little bit of the wounded hole inside her heart by finding some teenage guys they know. The one she's  going out with is from a school nearby the cities of Canada. He is tall and a hazel eyed guy. They knew him because of his service for their little farm on the back of their house. He had gotten off work to focus on his studies and now it's actually coming to an end that is why they have seen the good chance. His name is Miller Nixon. They hope that this will be it.

"Okay, Grams I am ready!" Sam shouted while walking down the endless stairs of the house.

"Oh! Look at you little Miss I hate-wearing-dress! You look so beautiful. Come here. Let me wear this necklace to you". Granny Eleanor said while reaching for her arm.

"Sam? Is that you? Is that really you? You look so amazingly different! I told you that dress will work!" Grandpa Vic said.

"Okay, Okay! I get it I am beautiful so can you guys please knock it off and at least tell me the name of the guy that I'll be having a dinner with! You know I have some trouble with table manners! How am I supposed to act all girly and decent in front of him if I don't even know his name!" Sam irritatingly declared. Well, she was right!

"Alright, Chill Honey! His name is Miller. Miller Nixon. He is a very good guy. He have been helping a lot in our farm at the back. He is also muscular" Grandpa Vic finished with a smirk playing on his lips.

'Muscular huh!' Sam thought but completely forget about it.

"But why don't I don't see someone working on the farm except for... us?" Sam asked while pointing her fingers through them.

"It's because he have the break. He needed to focus on his school works so that he can graduate next year, Sweetie". Granny answered.

Sam was about to open her mouth but suddenly the doorbell rang.

'Well, here comes hell' Sam thought and went to open the door.

---

Freddie Nervously tapping his index finger on the mouse. He's been trying to track Sam down for a month now. A MONTH! Freddie realize and push the keyboard and mouse in front of him. He is beyond worried right now. He is so mad at Sam for running away just like that! 'How childish of her!' He thought. Freddie continued to imagine bad things that might have happen to Sam, his phone vibrated meaning that he got a text. He opened it and it was from Carly. 'Damn it' he thought once again. Because even today he still hopes that Sam would change her mind and let him pick her up wherever she was. But that didn't come in handy today. He groaned at his phone, now it was ringing and that means Carly is now calling him. He didn't want to talk to Carly but maybe, just maybe she have an information regarding with Sam that is why he still picks up.

"Did you find Sam? Where is she?" Freddie's first words to her.

"Wow, hello to you to, Mister." Carly replied a little hurt. All this time, Freddie doesn't talk to Carly anymore. Well, he talks to her but only to have a conversation about Sam. She isn't jealous or anything but she's just really not used to this kind of Freddie. Before when Sam was still around, he never wants to talk about her. But now, when she's all gone he just wants to talk about her. 'How weird right? You really never know what you've got 'till it goes away' she thought.

"Sorry, Carls. Just... It's been a Month and I have nothing." Freddie said calmly now.

"I know. She is safe okay? Remember that. We did all the research we have to do to make sure she isn't permanently gone. She just needs space, Freddie let's just give it to her, okay?" She said in her advice tone.

Freddie Sighed.
