Start Procedure

The entire HYDRA base was underground and secluded. It was the very same area where Bucky had fallen. And Annie was captured.

What a stupid girl, thinking she could save him. Not in the state he was in.

He lays there unconscious and beautiful even near death. Tears rimmed Annie's eyes. What had she gotten herself into?

All these scientists were people that joined the newly founded S.H.I.E.L.D. that Howard had made. And to think that Annie herself was helping a parasite grow.

Everyone thinks she's went MIA, gone crazy over the belief that Bucky Barnes is still alive, and Steve Rogers. Agent Thompson and Sousa could probably be giving Annie a memorial. Howard could be drinking away through the night. Peggy...

Oh, Peg. Annie felt more sullen for her. Peggy had already lost Steve and her brother. Even though Sousa and she are together and happy, could Peggy regrettably back away?

Snapping back to the surgery table, Annie closely pays attention to Zola. He's still the old and short man he was back in '45. Only this time he's the leader of HYDRA.

"Get the electricity to one hundred percent!" he orders, his thick Swedish accent irking Annie.

Many other men scatter to do so, and the lights in this dreadful hangar brighten. Annie closes her eyes and looks away from the brightness. The energy was intense enough to make her lose control over her powers.

"Ms. Banica," Zola purrs and smiles kindly at her. Annie almost wanted to kill him. No suprise. "Would you be kind enough to begin?" then, looking down at Bucky, who had already began to awake.

Rushing to Bucky's side, Annie gingerly caresses his chin. His entire body was clean and warmed from the fall... Everything around Annie blurs and only focuses on Bucky. "He needs to be sedated," Annie directs, still looking at her beloved. "Strong, and make sure he's strapped down."

It pains Annie to do this, not explaining anything to him. Not giving Bucky a choice, but Annie couldn't let him die. Not today, tomorrow. Ever. Annie had this feeling since he fell off the train, and she just found him. In the most unlikable circumstance, but Bucky was alive.

A man gives Annie a syringe. She takes it carefully and sticks the needle in Bucky's skin. Annie bits her lip, felling every muscle in her body to stop. It wasn't right to do this.

Annie pulls out the syringe and places it on the tray where most of Bucky's blood is. Annie clenches her fists, and watches with a strained face as Bucky's vitals slow down.

From there on, she refused to saw away his arm. Zola had reluncatanly agreed and let her sit by Bucky and inform what to do.

"No," Annie hisses, "cut around the bone, you idiot!" The blood had begun to pool around the table. "Around, or else this procedure will fail because one imbosile had gave the subject," Annie pauses at the word, feeling her stomach churn, "an infection."

Hours pass by of Annie ordering around the scientists and herself becoming weary of this situation.

She started working with the wiring of the metal arm. His shoulder was covered with metal down to his upper left peck. Annie had begun to work around the fingers, zapping them with electricity. Though, she was unsure if this was going to work. Running out of power, she stands up and places a hand on Bucky's forehead before going to the other side of the table to retrieve a new conductor.
