"Normal Valley" Fair
"GET YOUR FRESH CANDY APPLES FOLKS! FRESH AND HOT FOR A DOLLAR!" the salesman called.
His voice added to the cacophony of noise created by the sound of Fair rides and games. The Normal Valley Community Fair was in progress. It was the perfect day for it, too. The crisp air of Autumn was refreshing, the sun was bright and it was fairly breezy.
"This isn't as bad as I imagined it would be," Michael said, arm in arm with Kayla. He still looked fairly nervous. "I haven't been around this many people in a long time.""Stop fussing with your clothes Mike, you look fine," Kayla said, grabbing his hand while holding a large caramel apple in the other.
The two did manage to draw attention. The theme of this year's fair was Medieval. Kayla donned a magnificent black lacy dress that was cut short in the front and flared out in the back to look like a cape. The pair were dressed in black and white. Michael had his hair in the usual slicked-back ponytail, with a frilly white dress shirt and black pants. He placed his hand on the small of her back, amazed at how the dress made her hips look. He'd almost had a fit when she came to him asking for help zipping the dress earlier that morning. Michael was so caught up in remembering how smooth the skin on her back felt, he didn't realize he was still staring.
Kayla caught him, and he blushed. "I see you!"
She giggled at him and took a bite of her apple, making sure to lick her lips so he could see.
He cursed in his mind, trying to stop his body from reacting. "You aren't going to eat anything?" she pouted.
"I'm not really hungry," he replied. He had a different type of hunger.
He glanced around and walked them towards an empty tent.
"Michael, what are you doin-"
She dropped the remnants of her apple as he kissed her.
"Do you understand what you're doing to me in this dress girl?" his eyes burned into her cleavage. A couple drops of melted caramel had spilled onto her chest and he ran a finger across the tops of her breasts, sucking the sweetness off of his fingers while looking her in the eye.Oh, Jesus, she thought.
He had her backed up against a pole of the tent, tasting her lips and the lingering caramel from the apple. "I can't help how you make my body react...part of me wants to leave this festival and finish what we started." They began full on making out and groping each other until a loud voice came over an air horn.
"May I have everyone's attention please?!?"
They recognized Mayor Sneddon's voice.Kayla and Michael fixed their clothes immediately and exited the tent smiling.
Mayor Sneddon seemed to have a very limited wardrobe. There he stood on a stage in the middle of the pavilion, the same comb-over, and crisp brown suit. Nothing about his clothing screamed "festive" or even matched the occasion.
"I would like to thank everyone who came out tonight for this year's Community Fair. Also, thank Aramark, the Stantons, and the Smiths for helping to organize and fund this yearly occasion!"
A round of applause ensued. One white family and one Black family stood and waved, as well as some representatives at Aramark sitting at a table with the company's logo as a tablecloth.
"I would also like to say that half the proceeds from this event will go towards our disadvantaged families."
More applause.
As the Mayor continued his rambling, Kayla started to get this weird feeling that she was being stared at (although it wouldn't be a surprise since she did look good). However, something was causing the hairs on her arms to stand up. She felt Michael put a protective arm around her. Glancing at him, she noticed he was on high alert and was looking at the crowd. "We have to get out of here," he whispered in her ear. "Something isn't right."
Someone about twenty yards away from them was looking in their direction as the music started to play and people started dancing.
