Jarred’s P.O.V

And there she was, sitting in the break room. I walked up quietly up to the door because it looked like she was deep in thought and I didn’t want to disturb her quite yet. She was sitting down on a stool by the window watching out. Her left arm was propped up on the counter and her left hand was under her chin. “God, she looked so innocent and beautiful just being in that pose. I wonder if she’s just all innocent or is there a bit of naughtiness behind all that. What the heck I’m thinking about! I’m supposed to be a professional, especially around my employees. But there isn’t any harm in thinking to myself. I think it’s time that I make my presence known.” He thought to himself.

“Ahem” I said pretending to clear my throat.

“Early as always, Ms. Lawson.” I said, while watching her reaction. She shook her head and looked over her shoulder. Her eyes were wide and she looked surprised of being found there. Jarred was in awe cause her cheeks were a little pink and he couldn’t get enough of looking into those big beautiful hazel eyes. He wanted to walk right up to her and place a long over due hungry kiss on those plump, pink lips. He had to snap out of it he said to himself. Jarred took a step back, turned and headed to his office.

LATER IN THE DAY

Majority of the day has flown by Jarred thought. He kept himself real busy today so that his thoughts wouldn’t wonder off of thinking about his sexy assistant Abigail. He sat in his comfy leather desk chair and turned to look out the window. He leaned forward and saw numerous of tiny people scurrying on the street below. He was glad that he wasn’t down there but some fresh air would be nice. He got up and opened his window close to his desk. The breeze lightly hitting his face, making he feel refreshed. He sagged back into his chair and closed his eyes as the cool air swirled around his office. Then, there was a light knock on the door. Jarred opened up his eyes and there stood his assistant Abigail.

She was wearing black dress pants, a white blouse and a green jacket over it. Her hair was also up in a pony tail, so he had a great view of her beautiful face. He noticed that she had a small pad paper and a pen in her hand. She then said, “Sorry to disturb you Mr. Matthews, but I was wondering if you wanted anything for lunch. Some of us are heading to a deli shop that makes the best sandwiches.” She put the end of the pen near those beautiful lips while awaiting his answer.

“Um, yeah sure! That sounds great. I am actually famished.” He said while his stomach made some noise. Thankfully she is by the door and that she didn’t hear that.

“Great! Shall I get your usual order of roast beef on white; lettuce, tomatoes, a little bit of onions and a small amount of mayo and honey mustard?” She said writing on her note pad.

“Yes, please! You know me so well.” He said smiling.

She looked up from writing on her note pad and blushed a little bit. “I try to, sir.” She said. “Oh, and before I forget to tell you, your mother is on line one.” She said with a smile as well.

“Thank you, Ms Lawson!” He said. She stepped out of the office and was gone from his sight for lunch.

Jarred picked up his phone receiver and wondered what his mother wanted. He took his finger and pushed the button for line one that was flashing red. “Hello Mother, what did I do to have this pleasure of you calling me?” he said into the phone.

“Aw, Jarred!! Took you long enough to answer the phone. And should I have a reason to call my eldest son?” his mother said.

“No, mother. I’m sorry. Now, what’s up? Cause you know that I’m a busy man.”

“Jarred you are always busy but you shouldn’t be busy for me. I am calling to remind you of my benefit this Friday. I never received an acceptance reply from you.”

Oh shit, he forgot all about her benefit. He pulled open his top drawer and there was his invite to the benefit. “Sorry about that mom, I’ve been so busy that I forgot to reply to your benefit. I’m assuming it’s too late to reply now, since it’s only Wednesday and you have two days to go before the benefit.”

“As I said before, you are always busy. But luckily for me, I’m always on top of things as well. And since I know my son is always busy, I accepted the invite for you.”

“Just splendid, Mom! I shall look forward to seeing you on Friday night.”

“Oh Jarred before you hang up, if you didn’t read the invite properly, It’s a black tie event and you need to bring a date.”

“Really mom, is it really necessary to bring a date?”

“Yes it is!! You always come to my events by yourself.”

“Ok mom, but no guarantees on my date.”

“There is no such thing as guarantees Jarred, you will bring one. Oh! Your brother is back in town as well and I told him the same thing.”

“Ok, Thanks for the heads up!”

“Ok honey, love you!”

“Love you too mom!”

Jarred hung up the phone and rubbed his temples. He needed to find a date for this benefit before his mom has a fit. He opened up his schedule book and jotted down mom’s benefit. He also noticed that his current super model girlfriend is away in New York for a photo shoot for two weeks, so there was no way she could make it back here for the benefit.  He didn’t like taking dates to meeting his family at events. So finding a woman for this benefit had to be really good and cannot embarrass him in front of the crowd and his family. Just when he finished that thought, Abigail walked in with his lunch. "I think I just found my date for this benefit. I hope I can get her to except." he said to himself.
