I woke up really late this morning. I looked at the time and notice that it was already 6:30am. “Damn it, I can’t believe I slept in. Oscar, where are you? You usually wake me up in the morning.” I said searching the room. I noticed Oscar in his comfy bed still asleep. We did go to bed really late. I had a hard time sleeping last night thinking about what I was going to do regarding my boss and this banquet that I have to attend. I was really tired and wished that I could just sleep in but I can’t do that. I jumped out of bed and hustled doing my morning routines.

I took Oscar for a short walk so he can do his business, since I won’t be home for a while. I can’t stand him doing it in my apartment. Plus I really enjoy my walks with him. It helps me clear my head. “Oscar, I really hope I’m doing the right thing today. It only seems logical.” I said to my dog while walking back to the apartment. I took a long time deciding of what to do. I decided that I was going to the banquet with my boss Jarred but I’m going to give back his card. I absolutely cannot use his money to pay for my stuff. It feels like he’s paying me to go with him and I don’t want to feel that way.

Once back at the apartment, I got dressed in a beige dress pants, a white tank with frill design in front and a Red-orange blazer. I also had matching shoes to compliment my jacket. I grabbed my belongings and jetted out of my apartment, walked down the hall to catch the elevator. I pushed the button to head down to the basement. As the door opened, I was about to walk into the elevator but someone in there stopped me in my tracks. There stood the man that I haven’t seen in such a long time Jeff.

Our eyes locked for a moment, I broke the strong contact to scan his gorgeous body. He looked really hot in those dark blue jeans and the light blue dress shirt. The dress shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and a few of the buttons at the top were not buttoned and it exposed some chest hair and the white tank underneath the shirt. “Wow, he’s breath taking.” I said to myself while trying to swallow down my saliva. The doors on the elevator were about to close but Jeff put his hands in between to stop them from closing.

Jeff said, “Abigail, are you coming in? Or are you going to stand there to stare at me the whole time?” I looked at him and he had this little smirk plastered on his pretty face.

I smiled at him and said “Yeah, I’m coming” as I stepped into the small, metal elevator. “Plus I wasn’t staring at you. I was just startled to run into you, that’s all.” I said to Jeff.

“I’m sure you weren’t but maybe you should wipe off the little bit of drool that’s at the corner of your mouth then.” Jeff said with a little bit of laughter in his voice.

I was in absolute shock of him saying that to me. I was not drooling over him, ok I admit that maybe I was a wee bit but I’m not going to admit that to him. I could feel my cheeks heating up from what he said and from my admission. Luckily the elevator had mirrors in it and I checked out my appearance in it. I so did not have drool plastered on my face and I was right, my cheeks were turning into a light pink. He’s so arrogant and very cocky. I didn’t see this side of him when we first met. Maybe I should ask what happened to him all that time. The ride down to the basement was very quiet. Jeff broke the ice and said, “Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”

It shocked me to hear those words coming from him. I didn’t expect an apology. I whipped my head to look at him and he was looking at me, but when I searched his eyes, I knew that he meant it. It was just something different about those piercing blue eyes that had a tint of hazel in them. “Um, it’s ok. Thanks for the apology. But I wasn’t drooling over you like some love sick puppy.” I said with a bit of confidence. I can tell that his eyes just lit up from my remark. I then dared to ask, “So, where have you been for so long? I haven’t bumped into you since the first time I moved into here.” But before he could answer my question, the elevator doors opened up to reveal the basement.

“After you, Abigail.” Jeff said putting one hand holding the door from closing and another hand on my lower back. When he made that contact on my lower back, I felt this electric shock pass through me. Plus the spot his hand is on, the heat radiating from him alone made me weak. I’ve never felt this type of response before.

I found my voice and said, “Thanks!”

“I’m always a gentleman.” He said.

“Really! You could have fooled me.” I said in a whisper.

“Ouch, that really hurt love.” Jeff said putting a hand over his heart acting hurt.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean for you to hear that. I thought that I was really quiet in saying that.” I said facing him.

“It’s ok, but you’ll make it up to me somehow.” He said with a smile on his face. His smile showed those beautiful dimples that I haven’t seen in so long. I’ll probably will drool over those dimples any day.

“We’ll see about that.” I said with a playful smirk. I looked at my watch and noticed that I only had an hour to make it in to work. “Shit, I’m really running late this morning.”

“Oh, Ok. Well, I guess that I shouldn’t be keeping you then.” Jeff said passing a hand through his dark brown hair. “W-what I mean to say is that I shouldn’t take up your time to get to work on time.” He said.

“Don’t worry; I’ll definitely make sure that you do.” He said turning around to head towards his car and waving his hand over his head.

“Make sure of what?” I said a little loudly for him to hear.

Jeff stopped in his tracks, turned around and said “Making it up to me, I always make sure people do. I’ll see ya around Abigail. It’s always a pleasure.” With that said, he turned right back around and continued walking to his car.

“I’ve heard that before Jeff. Don’t take too long this time.” I said staring after him. I’m sure that I heard him say a response back but I couldn’t make out what was said. What the hell was I thinking by saying that? I’m never like this.

I looked at my watch again and walked towards my own car. I got into my car and placed my stuff in the passenger seat. I just realized that he never did answer my question of why I haven’t seen him till now, I guess that I will have to ask him the next time I see him. That’s if I do. I started up my baby and made my way to work. “Please, let there be no traffic. I’ve never been late since I started working there” I said.
