The next morning, I woke up to birds chirping outside my window. I sat up and checked the time on my phone. 8:42am?!?! Crap! I got up as fast as I could. I ran downstairs to make sure my mom was awake first, only to find a note on the counter in the kitchen.
Mia,
I've withdrawn you from school because you only had 2 days left anyway! (: enjoy a relaxing day because I know you already finished packing! Love you! x
-Mom
As soon as I read the letter, my breathing slowed and I sat down on the counter. Phew! I then calmly walked up the stairs and to my bathroom. I stripped down and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash away my stress. I slid my fingers through my long brown waves. I dried off, got dressed and then just sat on my bed, letting myself breathe for a minute.
I took my phone from my dresser, seeing a text from my mom!
Mom
Hi sweetie :) hope you had a relaxing morning! Please finish packing the kitchen for me! Xx
I smiled and sighed. I always packed the kitchen. Ugh! I sent a quick text saying yes and then went downstairs to finish packing.
*Several hours later*
I plopped down on the couch in our living room and closed my eyes. I had finished packing the kitchen and all our movies! (Just so you know, WE HAVE A LOT!) I took a few deep breaths until I felt alive again. Packing was draining!
All of the sudden, I heard a knock at the door! I got up and slowly made my way to it. I opened it up and there stood my cousin, Paul!
"Paul?" I said, rather surprised. "Ummm, what are you doing here?"
"My mom sent me over to help you pack!" He said cheerfully. I fake smiled at him! Out of my 4 cousins, Paul was my least favorite. He was over enthusiastic about everything and he was weird...
"Oh that's okay! I'm pretty practiced in the art of packing!" I said quickly. Paul smiled and shook his head.
"Well, let's get to the packin’ then!" He yelled and threw his arms in the air.
4 hours later, Paul had left and we had packed my mom's room and the bathrooms! I sat down on my bed and sighed. Wow I sigh a lot lately... Oh well! I picked up a book lying on my side table and opened it up.
"Mia! Did you pack all of this?" My mom called up the stairs after, I assumed, she looked at all the boxes.
"Yeah! Paul came over and helped!" I yelled back and smiled. I loved to make my mom happy! Minutes later, my mom came into my room.
"Thank you for packing all of that for me!" She said. I smiled and shrugged. "Oh and I got a call from work after I got home! We can leave any day we're ready!" I have her a thumbs up and looked back down to my book. “When do you want to leave?”
“Anytime is good with me!” I said, still reading.
“Alright, I’ll call a moving truck up tomorrow!” I nodded and made a waving motion with my hand. “So, you go on your laptop and get us some plane tickets then!” I nodded and reluctantly put down my book. My mom walked out of my room and I called after her.
“Can I get first class seats?” I yelled. My mom was silent for a moment, so I assumed she was thinking.
“Umm, you can get yourself one, but I’m fine with coach seats!” She called. I thought to myself what the pros and cons were. I made a list in my head like this:
1. no mom -pro and con
2. better seats -pro
3. less people -pro
4. SNACKS -pro
5. people that i don’t know -con
As I thought through it one more time, I decided to stay in coach with my mom. I’m super shy and hate talking to people I don’t know!
I went to my laptop, which was the only thing on my desk because the rest was packed. I opened it and booted it up. It took me awhile to find good seats at an affordable price, but I found some and payed.
“Okay mom! I bought the tickets!” I yelled out of my room. I didn’t wait for a reply and I just got my pajamas on. I laid down in my comfy, fluffy bed and fell straight to sleep.
