*3 weeks later*
"Bye mom!" I yelled as I closed our apartment door. I walked down the hall and to the staircase. (The elevator was broken!) I walked down the stairs slowly, thinking about how Ed used to throw me over his shoulder and run down them.
Suddenly, my phone rang! I got it out of pocket and pressed the answer button.
"Hello?" I asked. I heard static and some bits and pieces of words. Must be the bad reception in the staircase! I ran outside only to find that the person had hung up. "Man..." I said, huffing my breath. I decided to call him back as I sat down in our apartment building's lobby.
"Hello?" A deep British voice answered.
"Hi! This is Mia, you were trying to reach me a few minutes ago!" I said. I heard the man let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness! I'm Harry Styles by the way!" He said. I just say there for a moment wondering what to say.
"Oh! Hi Harry!" I tried to say casually. "What's up?"
"The boys and I agreed to call you. It's about Ed." I suddenly grew very protective.
"What is it? Is something wrong?" I asked, extremely worried.
"Well, he's just not himself these days. He's really depressed and he won't smile or laugh, unless it's forced." I let a tear fall from my eye. Poor Ed!
"Oh my gosh! That's awful! Where is he now?"
"Probably in his room, singing Autumn Leaves! But I called with a plan! A plan to reunite him with you." Harry said sneakily. I laughed and questioned him.
"When is this going to happen?"
"This weekend! We have to do it as soon as possible! Before he starts crying himself to sleep at night." I sighed and thought things through to myself.
"I guess that will work! I'll talk to my mom first!" I said, feeling quite stupid after I said things about my mom.
"Great! Call me when you want to hear the rest of the plan!" Harry said and hung up. I grinned. I would be seeing Ed in less than a week! As soon as I realized that it was really happening, I ran as fast as I could to our park.
When I got there, I saw a little boy and his friend playing together on our swing. A woman sat on the bench a few feet away. I debated making them go away or not, but decided against it. I walked to the park and sat down next to the woman.
"Nice park isn't it?" I asked. The woman nodded and kept her eyes on the kids, making sure they didn't run off. I decided to enjoy the sound of the kids yelling and screaming. After about 30 minutes of sitting at the park, the woman and her children left. I got up and went to the tree. Putting my hands on it made me feel closer to Ed.
I then took a rock and put it against the tree. I pushed until it left a mark. I did it with all my strength and moved the rock along the bumpy stump of the tree. 45 minutes later, I had successfully carved words into it. They read:
Ed and Mia's <3
I smiled and set the rock back down. Ed would love that I did this. I took a picture and sat down on the bench, bringing me back to the night we had danced beneath these exact branches. I smiled at all the memories we had together. I remembered Harry asking me to call him after I talked to my mom so I got up and rushed home.
As I entered our apartment, I bumped into my mom, who was leaving.
"What's the rush?" My mom asked, confused.
"Can I fly to Florida this weekend?" I asked. My mom laughed and asked why. "Well, apparently Ed is really depressed so Harry from One Direction called me and said to visit!" After I finished, I took a big breath and plopped down to the floor.
