Mitch P.O.V.
Tim and his faulty equipment.
I laughed as I stood beside Olivia as she got her first ultrasound. The OB/GYN doctor had done a check up on Olivia and from what she said Olivia should have never had a problem conceiving. Now that I had that little piece of information everything made sense. Tim hadn’t gotten Olivia pregnant in ten years and he hadn’t knocked up Elena when I thought he might have because his junk just didn’t work. Tim was the reason he and Olivia never had a baby all this time and had her thinking it was her fault. I couldn’t stop laughing to myself as I thought about how much of a failure Tim was for a husband. Olivia really married the wrong guy.
“So this is your husband right?” the doctor asked Olivia.
“N-“
“Yes I’m her husband. We’ve been happily married for ten years,” I lied.
I could tell Olivia was about to tell the doctor that I wasn’t her husband and I couldn’t have that. Yeah I was lying but only for now. I had a plan now that Olivia was carrying my child. I would make sure she would divorce Tim or become a widow then we could live happily ever after.
I was the luckiest man on earth right now to have the woman I love carrying my child. I couldn’t ask for more. My life was perfect.
“Ten years? But you’re still young. You two must have married very young,” the doctor said.
“We did. We’re high school sweethearts,” I said.
“Oh that’s sweet. I’m glad to see young love lasted between you two. Now you two have a new edition to your family. What are you hoping for?” the doctor asked.
“Oh I want a little girl that looks just like my beautiful wife,” I said.
“Olivia I must say you have a keeper,” the doctor said.
Olivia looked over at me and glared. I smiled and held her hand as the doctor finished up the ultrasound.
“Well everything looks good with the little one. You can set up your next appointment at the front desk on your way out. Congratulations on the four month mark,” the doctor said.
The doctor walked out of the room and Olivia sat up cleaning off her stomach.
“Why did you lie Mitch?” Olivia asked.
“Baby did you really want to explain that you were having your husband’s best friend’s child to that doctor?” I countered.
“No but you didn’t have to lie and say you were my husband. You could have just said you were a family friend,” Olivia said.
“I’m more than a friend and you know that. We’re having a baby together. I know in the beginning you were scared and hesitant but it’s been two months since you found out and you’re four months along now. We should start planning our lives together with our baby.”
“Mitch I’m still married and my husband is still in a coma. I might have told you about me being pregnant but that doesn’t mean I’ve given up on Tim. I still believe that he can wake up.”
“I hope he doesn’t.”
“What?”
“I said I hope he doesn’t wake up. I’m sick of only having half of your happiness or attention. You’re pregnant and that is something you’ve wanted for a long time. I gave it too you and you only care about Tim waking up. I hope he dies or just stays in his coma forever.”
