5 AN: Sorry for making the last chapter so boring and short. But I just needed to fill in some of the information. Continue the story:

Emily's P.O.V.

It has almost been two weeks since the Greenie showed up. He tried out almost every job we had — every job except for the one he always asks about. The Runner job.

But despite his questions about the Maze and being a Runner, we did share conversations that weren't job-related. I could actually talk to him about stuff that I haven't shared with Alby, because, well, Alby isn't the type to talk about... some certain things.

For some odd reason, Mr. President isn't that fond of talking about whether or not an army of trolls could defeat the Grievers.

Not only is Newt my new friend to share weird, random conversations with, but he is also Alby's acquaintance. I always like to tease them about being the cutest couple. And whenever I do that, I always receive a hit or a punch.

It might hurt, but goddamn is it worth it.

Also, lately, Alby has become more and more grumpy — I think it has something to do with the fact that he is now the Leader of the Glade, and that he has to be more serious if he's going to live up to the role. But whether or not that's the reason why, I can still summon a smile or a laugh from him.

But that's not the only thing that has happened in the little time frame. Newt learned about my superpower. And when I mean 'superpower', I mean that I have a photographic memory — he also reacted nicer to my ability than Alby.

That damn shank.

Furthermore, the supplies we received along with Newt were actually quite useful. Not only am I a proud owner of an awesome watch, but I also own new runner clothes that my body can breathe in. Speaking of running, Newt, Alby, and I built some sort of an office for the Runners. We call it the Map Room, and it's in that room that I map and write down the information I find about the Maze.

Only Runners are allowed in the Map Room, which means me! But Alby is the leader, so he is also allowed too... and Newt is the other second-in-command, so... but still.

"Hey, Slinthead!" Alby yelled across the Glade, cupping his hands around his mouth. "I made some breakfast!"

Oh, no.

No.

Nei.

Nope.

Nein.

Noh.

Nej.

Nah ah.

No.

I was going to the kitchen to get some food, but knowing that the shuck-face cooked something, well, yeah, I wasn't that hungry after all.

"You know what, I think I'll just skip breakfast — I have an important meeting with— bye!" I hastily tried to avoid the smiling boy, but Alby being his stubborn self, well, let's just say that I didn't get away that easily.

I was sitting in the diner, waiting to be killed by whatever Alby had cooked when Newt showed up. The Brit looked tired with his sleepy eyes and messy hair, which made it look like he was about to fall asleep at any second now.

"Morning, sleeping beauty," I caught his sluggish eye. "Tired?"

"Shut up," he muttered half-asleep and laid his head on the table.

There was a silence in the air before I decided to break it. "Alby cooked breakfast."

Newt's eyes shot open, his entire face smeared with fear.
