'Rolling down your tinted window'

Today was my first day at my new high school. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. This town seems creepy to me. Nobody is ever out past dark and nobody walks alone, and everything looks the same.

I used to live in the city, everything was loud there 24/7 and that was normal. But now as I lay awake at midnight I can hear a pin drop on the street outside.

I've also noticed at 7am sharp everyone leaves their house, wether it be in their car or walking side by side with they wife or husband. I've also seen no gay people, my dad's are gay. Whenever they walk outside together everyone glares at them. I don't get this town.

This school I'm going to has a uniform too, my dads said it was the only school in town for miles. I guess I'm stuck there.

I was walking down the street when I heard it, a car behind me. It seemed like it never speed up and I know the speed limit was more than 5mph. So I turned back. I couldn't see anything, the windows were too dark. As were all the other cars as well.

I heard the sound of a window rolling down and looked next to me, it was the car.

"You know, you shouldn't be walking out alone. It's the law"

The law? What kind of law is that? It's not even 8am and its light outside and people are walking along the same as me but with someone. Why do we have to walk with someone.

"The law?"

"Yes, it's the law. Now how about you hope in. We're going the same place, I'll give you a ride."

This man seemed creepy to me, there was no way in hell I was setting even a foot in his car.

"Uh, no I'll walk"

I started to walk faster but the car still followed me.

"Hey, little girl you wouldn't want to get arrested now would you? I'll give you another chance to get in"

His tone seemed angry now. I didn't like how he called me little girl. I still refused and the next thing I know he's speeding off the road, leaving me in the dust.

Why is this town so weird?
