Have you ever had that feeling before something big happens? It's like the calm water before a waterfall, plunging into the rocks at the bottom. There's an everlasting chill on your neck, warning you, but everything else is peaceful. You're calm but also tense, as if someone was behind you. So far, I've had that feeling ever since I boarded that plane.

"Come on, Rose! Hurry up, we're going to be late!" "In a minute, mom!" I yelled. I take one last look at the room I grew up in and walk out. "Finally," my mom says. " The plane leaves an in hour!" "Whatever,"I grumbled. We load our bags in the car and climb in. I take one last look at the house I grew up in. Goodbye Kansas, Hello Illinois!

My name is Rose Williams, but most people call me Rosie. I've always been the quiet, shy girl you see at school. My life was pretty good in the small city of Shawnee. That was until the phone call. My dad is an engineer that works for this famous company. Recently, they asked him to transfer to Chicago, because its closer to the headquarters. He immediately accepted and began packing and looking for a house. A few months later we're all packed and ready to go. Dad leaves first checking up on the new house, before we arrive. And ever since then Dad hasn't answered any of our calls.

The police reported him missing. My mother has been heartbroken while I'm just distant inside. We both try to deal with it by acting like nothing's wrong but we both know that's not true. So here we are, in an airplane, about to leave Kansas forever. It's going to be a long ride, I think. I lean my head against the window and close my eyes.

"Come on, wake up!" My mom said while shoving me slightly. "What" I murmured with my eyes closed. "Come on we're in Chicago!" I was fully awake now. "I'm up. Let's go," I say. I walk to the baggage claim with shivers on my back. After we got our bags we started walking to the exit. "Hey." My mom grabbed my arm before I could walk out. "Look I know things are looking bad for us but we can't let this affect us as a family. We will find him." And with that she walks out and yells "Taxi!"

*********

We pull up to an old, but huge looking house. The house was mostly brown with a little bit of white. The woods covered most of the surroundings except for a house that you could barely see. Mom walks up to the front door  and pulls out a silver key. "Ready to walk into your new house?" "Sure," I say sarcastically. Mom gives me a look. She opens the door for me and I walk in to the enormous house. "Wow," I say while smiling. It was huge."Well don't just stand there," I hear my mom call,"Let's start unpacking."
I bring in all of our stuff for our rooms while Mom handles with the kitchen supplies. After putting away all of Mom and Dad's stuff in their room i head over to my new room. I look around the pale walls. I step on the floor and hear it creak. This place is going to need some work. Out of my peripheral vision I see something move near the window. I walk over to the window and look out to see a faint figure inside the next door house.

I can see pretty good so when I look closer i can see him. He looked about a year older than me, probably seventeen. He had dark, tousled brown hair, almost black. His jaw was clenched, almost like he didn't want to see me. But the worst part was his eyes. He had cold but deep green eyes that could pierce into you. I turn around and start to walk away but when I glance back to the window he was gone. Weirdo!

"Hey, honey! Could you come down here and take one of the boxes to the attic?" My mom yells. "Sure" I walk down the grand staircase. Once I reach the bottom, Mom hands me a box. "Thanks," she says. I walk back up, lugging the heavy box with me. I pull the string to attic once I'm at the top. A bunch of stairs fall out and I climb it with the heavy box. Once I'm in I immediately start to cough. Dusty much?

I look around the colossal room. There's stuff everywhere I look from antique dolls to bunches of books. I set the box down with an explosion of dust. Something shimmers on the wall and I turn around. Facing me was a gigantic antique mirror. As I inched closer I saw something on the floor. I reached out and picked it up and I froze. Oh my god! It's Dad's special pen! Dad always carried this pen wherever he went. All of a sudden the mirror starts to turn into a purplish color. I felt my body being tugged towards it and before I knew it I was sucked into the mirror before it shattered into pieces.
