When the guards brought Phoenix in the door, she had passed out. The guards put us in a helicopter and we flew away. I saw my mom trying to get past the guards to take me back, but it was too late. I was bawling in the helicopter. I didn't want to die. I wanted to be free like a bird. I wanted to feel the wind brushing through my feathers. Soaring peacefully in the air. Moving so smoothly that I looked like I was swimming in a shimmering pool. But it was over. I was going to one of the most dangerous games ever.

Phoenix woke up after about an hour. I shook her hand. We tried to make a conversation, but it didn't really work out.

" Do you know sign language?"

I nodded.

" Ok good because I know sign language too!"

' What am I saying?' I told her in sign language.

" You are saying, 'What am I saying?'"

I giggled a little. She gave a laugh too.

' So, are you scared? You know, about the games?'

" Terrified actually... How are you doing?"

' Really bad... I just want to go home.'

" Me too, but I'm sure everything will be ok."

All of a sudden, I felt a big jerk, and a few bumps. Then it was silent for a second. One of the guards came through with the door.

" Get out, we're here!"
