it's been two years
two years since I packed up my bags and left Los Angeles
you're probably wondering why I chose to do that
I had two reasons.
one...
my manager got me an audition to play a lead role in an upcoming movie.
the only problem was that I'd have to move to New York.
most people would tell their manager that they would consider the offer, take time to think about it..talk about it with their family
not me.
I just knew it was something I needed to do, whether my family liked it or not

living in Los Angeles felt like I was living a recurring nightmare
everything reminded me of the bad things that had happened there.
I needed to leave, so I did.
so here I am, two years later
twenty years old and finally happy with my life.
when I first moved to New York I wasn't looking for anything or anyone, my mind was set on work.
it took me longer than I'd care to admit to get over Sam...that may sound stupid because we were never in a relationship, but it's the truth
I threw myself into work, audition after audition after audition.
"What are you thinking about?" James mumbles as he kisses my cheek
"Nothing important" i smile at him
James is my boyfriend, we've been dating for exactly a year, today is our one year anniversary.
I met him through work, we both auditioned for the same movie, and we both got it
"Babe, your phone is ringing" James brings me out of my thoughts
I look at the screen to see Nash's name lit up
"Hello baby brother" I smile to myself
"Shut up, you're only a minute older" his words cause me to chuckle
"What's up anyway?" I fall back onto my bed
"I was just calling to tell you that I'm in New York"
"Manhattan?" my body shoots up
"Yes Gabby, I'm in Manhattan" he laughs
I hear the door bell for my apartment ring
"One second" I say to Nash
"James, can you see who's at the door" I shout, getting no reply
I huff and walk to the door to see who is there
"Surprise!" my twin brother attacks me with a hug
"Oh my gosh, you're really here" I hug him back
"I am, I've missed you so much" he pulls away
"I've missed you too" I shut the door
James walks out of the bathroom and stops in his tracks
"James this is my brother" I laugh at the confused expression on his face
"And Nash, this is my boyfriend James" I smile at my brother
"Nice to meet you" they say in unison
"I've got a feeling you two will be great friends" I smirk
"Do you have plans today?" Nash looks over at me
"Well it's actually our anniversary" I look over at James
"Wow, how long have you two been dating?"
"A year" me and James say at the same time
Nash nods
"We don't have plans until 7pm" James reminds me
"Are you sure? I didn't mean to interrupt anything" Nash speaks quickly
"No it's fine, come on let's hang out, just let me get my coat and shoes" I run to my room

"So you and James" Nash speaks
"Yeah, he treats me right" I smile at the floor
"I can't believe you didn't tell us about him" he slightly laughs
"I know, I'm sorry for being so distant, I just didn't know what to say to anyone really" I shrug
"You know that everyone is still here for you, nothing has changed"
"Nash, everything has changed and you know that, it's been two years" I sigh
"You know what I mean"
"I don't know, everything just felt so awkward after I woke up from the coma"
"I couldn't look anyone in the eyes without comparing them to how they were in my dream"
"We're still your family Gabby, we have barely heard anything from you since you left" He sighs
"I'm sorry, I just needed time"
"Sam asks about you a lot" Nash looks over at me
"He does?" my chest becomes tight
"Yeah" he nods
I feel my eyes gloss with water
"I know you love him Gabby"
"Nash it was just a dream, I love James"
"You're my twin sister, I know you and I know that you are still in love with Sa-" I stop him
"Nash, drop it" I sigh
"Why can't you realise that I'm happy here, my life is actually going the way I want it to, please don't ruin that" tears escape my eyes
"I'm sorry, I love you and I just want what's best for you" he puts his hand on my shoulder
"Then please, stop bringing Sam up" I look up at the grey sky
I look at my watch reading that it is 5.30 pm
"I need to get back to my apartment, me and James have reservations for 7" I look up to my brother
"Okay" he nods
"How long are you here for?" I look at my deep purple nails
"For two days" he slightly smiles
"I'll call you tomorrow" I pull him into a hug
"Take care, I love you little brother" I begin to walk away
"I love you too" I hear him mumble
I begin to walk fast, considering the fact that my apartment is a twenty minute walk away and it would take way to long trying to get a cab
I feel someone bash into me, making me drop my iPhone
"New Yorkers can be so rude" I mumble to myself
"Omaha, Nebraska actually" I hear a familiar voice
my heart stops.
