Today, I'm going to talk about something that is very important and rarely mentioned in cliché Percy Jackson fanfiction. And that is... Drumroll, please! *Random drum rolls down hill and crashes into me* NOT LIKE THAT!
It's abusive parents! I don't understand how the main character HATES or is afraid of their mortal parent whenthat very parent is THE SWEETEST THING IN THE WORLD! Like, I want that parent for myself and then the OC acts like that parent is the worst thing in the world. Just because Percy had Gabe doesn't mean everyone should have that.
Let's travel to the fanfiction world, shall we?
*Goes to fanfiction world*
*Sneaks into OC's house and peers out from a random huge fake plant* Let's watch the OC in her natural habitat.
OC: *walks out of her room from five stories up and comes down from her elevator*
OC's dad: Hi there, pumpkin!
OC: *Flinches and glares with hatred*
OC's dad: I made all your favorite foods for breakfast, sweetie. Eat up!
OC: *Takes one bite* UGH! THIS HAS ONE SUGAR MORE THAN IT SHOULD!!! ARE YOU TRYING TO FATTEN ME UP SO YOU CAN GIVE ME OVER TO THE WITCH IN HANSEL AND GRETEL?!?!?11 WHY DO YOU TORTURE ME SO MUCH?!?1?1 I HATE YOU!!11!1 *Runs out door and slams it*
OC's dad: *sighs and cleans up the breakfast OC didn't eat*
*Goes to real world*
....Man, the way these OC's treat their parents can be downright terrible. It's like the author wants it to seem like the OC got hurt/abused (kind of like Percy) but doesn't really want them to get hurt (because it'll RUIN the makeup and the way the OC looks) so we're given this. It's kind of depressing.
