[Y/D/N]-Your Daughter's Name

You turned over in bed, trying to get some rest, when you felt a cold, empty space, where Haloti usually slept. You yawned and sat up. 'Where could this man be at-'  you stopped your thoughts momentarily to look over at the table side alarm clock, '1:29 in the morning?'  From your spot on the bed, you saw a crack of dim light on the wall from the nursery. You pulled a fluffy robe over your body. As you got up, you slipped on your slippers and made your way across the hall, stopping at the door of the nursery. The door was only cracked slightly, but you could still see Haloti inside. "Mom, s-she's so perfect" Haloti said, as he talked to his mom on the phone. "I thank God every moment for her and [Y/N]." You could hear his voice quiver with emotion. You opened the door wider and peeked into the room. Haloti was standing next to [Y/D/N]'s crib, looking down at her, with what looked to be glistening eyes. "Every time I look at her," he took a breath, "I see a reflection of [Y/N], she's just so...perfect" he cried. He sniffled, trying to keep himself together." A little whimper came from [Y/D/N], then it started up to a loud cry.

Haloti lifted up the crying child and cradled her against his chest. "I better go...alright, love you too Ma.." You leaned against the door-frame watching as Haloti rocked the infant in his arms. Quietly, he began to sing:

"He 'oiaue 'Ana Latu
'Ana tauele kiate au
si'e ma fononga he 'one'one
he na'a ma topu va'e taha pe"

She quieted down instantly. "Good, now I can get some sleep" he smiled. Just as he began to put her down, she began whining, then crying erupted from her. He sighed, cradling her back against his chest. "Let's not wake Mama, okay-?" "Too late" you interjected. Haloti jumped slightly from your sudden entry. You held your hands out for [Y/D/N]. "She's hungry" you told him. She was only five days old and you knew her like the back of your hand. Haloti handed over [Y/D/N]. You walked over to the rocking chair, sat down and pulled your robe open, to nurse her. Haloti pulled up an extra chair and sat down next to you. [Y/D/N] curled up against your chest to eat, closing her eyes as she did. "I heard you talking to your mom" you whispered. Haloti looked up from [Y/D/N]. "You did?" You nodded tiredly. As much as you loved your daughter, the newborn took a toll on you. "When [Y/D/N] was born, I was just so, happy, overjoyed-there are too many words to describe it, I just can't stop smiling. God, I just love you both so much. My two favorite girls"  he finished, stroking [Y/D/N]'s small curls.
