"have we... met before?"

i was taken aback by seungyoon's question. why would he ask me that right on the first day we met? perhaps... nah. if we met before, i would have already dated him, given the fact that he was so damn hot.

"hmm? i... i don't think s... so..." i stammered.

"oh well," seungyoon replied, "i thought i found your face quite familiar."

the next few days were pretty much the same. wake up, breakfast, bus, work, bus, home, dinner, sleep... everything was the same, except for me. there was something, however, that had changed about me ever since seungyoon became a barista at our cafe. well... i'm not really sure how to describe this but... i began to put more efforts into my looks, enjoyed going to work even more and most importantly, i laughed more than i usually did during work. seungyoon... he somehow managed to brighten up my life. never have i, in the past 20 years of life, felt such tremendous happiness in my daily life.

it was the eve of a public holiday. the day passed by quickly as we were all kept busy with the never ending flow of customers. as soon as i got home, i went to shower and changed into my comfy oversized sweater and tights. since i did not have to go to work the next day, i laid in bed and read my favourite magazine. just as i was about to doze off from tiredness, my phone rang.

"yeoboseyo?" i barely mumbled.

"it's me, seungyoon. did i wake you up? i'm sorry if i did."

i was startled by his sudden call. i quickly sat up straight and replied, "oh... erm... no, it's okay, you didn't. but why did you call me at this hour?"

seungyoon replied calmly in his sweet voice, "ah yes... are you free tomorrow? since it's a public holiday, i don't have anything to do and i was wondering if you want to go out? maybe have a meal together?"

somewhere inside my heart, i was very excited for no reason.

taking a deep breath, i replied, "o... okay. let's meet outside hongdae station at 11am. see you tomorrow!"

oh. my. god. what on earth is happening? why does seungyoon want to meet me? or am i just thinking too much? oh, whatever, i should go to sleep now if i don't want to wake up with a puffy face.

the next morning, i woke up early to prepare myself. i looked through my wardrobe and decided to wear a simple white dress and a pastel blue coat since the weather was a bit cold. i did not want to show my bare face in front of a guy so i put on some natural makeup too. unlike my usual bun-up hairstyle, i decided to let my hair down today. grabbing my sling bag, i headed out to meet seungyoon. though i arrived at 10.55am, seungyoon was already there waiting for me. even from a distance, he still looked like the kind of guy that every girl wanted. his hair, looks, clothes... everything was perfect. he noticed me and waved at me with his ever so warm smile. i shyly smiled back.

"did you wait very long?" i asked him.

"nah, i arrived here just a little earlier than you. oh, you look pretty today."

i blushed at his words. he's good with his words.

"let's go grab a cup of coffee and go shopping." seungyoon suggested.

the rest of the day was very well spent. we mostly went to clothing and accessories shops. at one of the accessories shop, i even picked out a childish headband and put it on seungyoon's head. in return, he also chose a similar one and put in on me. we both looked in the mirror and laughed at how silly we looked. we really had a lot of fun spending time with each other outside of work. soon, the sun set and it was time to go home.

as we were walking towards the bus stop, seungyoon started to speak, "umm... can i ask you something?"

"sure. what is it?"

"can i just call you by your name from now? since i'm one year older than you..."

"yeah, it's fine with me."

he smiled delightedly and said, "then, chaewon-ah, can i..."

"yeah?"

"can i treat you as my younger sister from now on? i've always wanted to have one like you since i'm the only child."

i was surprised by his sudden request, even though we only met for a few weeks. since i was also the only child at home, i gladly agreed to his request.

"great! from now on, i'll be sure to take care of you like you're my real sister."

aww, can he and his words get any sweeter?

"oh yeah, before i forget, i got myself a new number. i accidentally dropped my phone the other day and i had to buy a new one. give me your phone, i'll help you key in my new number."

i took my phone out and handed it over to him. as he was typing, i observed his side profile. those eyes, nose and lips...

"done."

as i was putting my phone back into my bag, seungyoon said, "hold on a moment... there's something stuck in your hair."

he reached his hand towards my hair, almost touching my cheeks. i was startled. just a few moments ago, he suggested to treat me as his younger sister and now, he's really doing it. oh goodness, god knows how red my cheeks became and how quick my heart thumped.

"okay, let's go."

i took a few seconds to react before continuing to the bus stop.
