Rolling over, I felt the blankets that surrounded me. "Wha-?", I began to ask. There was a girl standing in the doorway of the back room. I sat up and blinked, trying to figure out who she was. "Oh!", she exclaimed loudly. Who is she?...Oh. I remember now. She was Heaven Andrees, the girl that Lukas had spoke of the night before. She stood and stared at me for what seemed like ages. I opened my mouth and went to speak to her, but Lukas entered the room.
He saw her and his eyes grew large. "Hev. I can explain!", he pleaded. I tried to say something, but I realized, she wasn't paying any attention to me. She pulled out of her bag a black t-shirt and threw it forcefully at Lukas. She then produced a photo of what seemed to be the two of them and ripped it in half, tossing it to the ground.
She shook her head, "No need to explain, Lukas. I understand. I'm your best friend, not your girl friend. It's not my business what Josie is doing in your bed. That's yours. I'll be leaving now. Don't expect me to be coming back, ever.". With that she exited the room.
Heaven ran out as Lukas chased her shouting, "Hev! Heaven! HEAVEN! WAIT!". I scrambled out of the bed and stumbled to the front window. I watched her jump into her car and quickly peal out of the drive, leaving Lukas on his knees. He watched he drive away and he stayed like that for what seemed like forever.
I walked out and slipped my arm under his, guiding him inside. I sent him to the bathroom, "Go take a shower. I'll bring you some clothes. Then you can go get her and explain.". He nodded and went off. I walked back to his room, grabbed some jeans, boxers, and the shirt that Heaven had thrown at him and left them outside the bathroom door.
The kitchen was small and homey. I grabbed the yellow notepad off the counter and scribble Lukas a note:
"Luke.
Thank you for letting me stay here. I'm so sorry.
It's all my fault what happened with Heaven. I'm going home.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
Much love,
Your sister."
With that, I hopped into my purple 2011 Mercedes and drove off to our mum's house. Lukas and I never really spoke of family. He and my mum had a big blow out after our father died. Luke just simply moved out and never spoke to her again. Most of our friends had no idea that we were brother and sister. This was one of those times that I figured had we told our friends, Lukas and Heaven wouldn't be in this situation.
Man. I'm great at screwing up relationships. First Deyvon and now Luke and Hev. What next? My mum and I will have a fall out? I shook my head and pushed the thoughts out of my mind. I was strong. I had to be strong for my mum. After my father died I had been her rock. I pulled into the drive and turned off the car. I laid my head in my hands and began to weep until the sun went to bed, telling me that it was time for me to head inside and struggle through another night of fitfull sleep.
