“Have you ever heard of the Dark Ages?” she asked me.

“No. What is it?”

“Well you see, the Dark Ages is the time that the Dark Angels ruled the world. Everything was going perfect for us until the goddess Lux used her power to banish us from Earth and sent us down into the Underworld. She did, however, make us a deal that we learned later on was a curse: only the queen and one of her servants may be allowed to walk the Earth once every century instead of being prisoners to the Underworld. Unfortunately the minute we made the deal, the she took away my demonic powers and heart and sealed me into the body of a human girl and the only way the seal could be broken was if I could get hold of a demon heart. But the only problem was that every time the human girl whom I was sealed in was born, she would always be heartless and would die before I even got a chance to see the world.

The 21st century however was different. This time instead of two human parents I was born into a family of Majix. They were doomed to face the same fate as all the other parents: lose their daughter. Unlike all the other parents, this time they were able to notice that I had no heart the instant I was bored. For them there was only one option, which was to temporarily borrow a demon’s heart, but for some reason no demon would offer their heart no matter how high the cost for they already knew what was to happen. However there was only one demon stupid enough to offer his heart to the baby and I’m pretty sure you know who that stupid person is. The minute that the heart entered my body, the seal was instantly broken and I was set free to take back what was taken from me.

How does it feel to be the one to end the world of humans, majix, and demons? All I need to do is wait for her 17th birthday and my powers will be recharged and I will be able to finally be free to get out of this body at last with my new heart.”

“Who says I’ll allow you to take my heart? What if I decide to take it back before your powers get a chance to come back?”

She laughed. “As if. You and I both know that isn’t possible. You’re not allowed to touch your heart until the 17th birthday and I’ll be sure to make sure that your heart never gets to return to you ever again."

Damn, I thought. She has a point. I did make the heart bond, but still I can’t let her just kill Labyrinth and I off. What am I saying? Forget about Labyrinth. She was going to die anyways, but I still have a chance. But why cant I just forget her? Damn…

“How are you so sure that you will be able to kill me? You have no powers while I do. Also how are you even able to come out if you aren’t completely free.”

“Well first, I’m so sure because I know that you won’t be able to kill her because just like all the other demons you’ll probably fall in love with her thanks to the connection you have with the heart bond. Also I’m able to come out because thanks to the demons around me I can absorb their powers to make an appearance though I don’t have any of my powers. But now I think it’s time for me to go. You’ve seen enough of me for now, but I don’t think it’s time to start feeling so safe yet because I am the Queen Angel of Dark and I plan to live and be free.” With that she and all the demons were gone with only an unconscious Labyrinth on the ground.

I went to her side and picked her up bridal style trying to ignore the warmth that filled my insides. I ran with my demon speed all the way back to the school field. When I approached there, I laid her gently on the ground only to look up to see Akila and Trevon rushing over to me.

“What the hell did you do to my best friend you f**.” Akila roared at me. “I freakin’ leave you alone with her for not even 10 minutes and next thing you know I find her unconscious.”

“Slow down there.” Trevon said. “You haven’t even given Blaze here a chance to tell his side of his story. I’m pretty sure that he has a good explanation for what happened. Right man?”

I stayed silent not knowing what to say like I could just come out and say, Well what happened was that the Queen Angel of Darkness appeared from inside her body which completely exhausted her out.

“You son of a *****!”

Akila took the silence as a sign for my being guilty and tackled me to the ground. For a girl, she had a lot of force. I pushed her off me with all my strength and she flew backwards into Trevon. He tried to put an arm around her to prevent her from attacking again, but she bit his arm with so much force that he yelped and let go.

She rushed at me again and I poised myself for her next attack until suddenly all three of us were floating in mid-air.

“And just what is going on here?” Ms. Merry and Mr. Smith said in unison while using there powers to keep us suspended in mid-air.

“What does it look like? I’m trying to help my best friend here.” Akila yelled.

“Well it certainly doesn’t look like that. Looks like you are all are fighting,” Mr. Smith said matter-of-factly, “and you know what that means?”

“Detention.” Akila mumbled, “but Blaze did something to Labyrinth. Look at her. She wasn’t like this until I left her alone with Blaze. I’m not going to just sit here and let the cause of this problem just walk around here like he doesn’t know what he did and if you aren’t going to do anything I certainly will.” She was pissed off.

“Excuse me Akila,” Ms. Merry gently said, “but Labyrinth is okay. She’s just so exhausted that she fainted. Poor child must’ve used up all her energy in the exercise.” She whistled and a gurney immediately appeared and Labyrinth’s body was slowly lifted and placed on the gurney. It disappeared on its way to the nurse’s office.

After the gurney was gone, we were carefully descended onto the ground.

“Now all of you, report to the office right now to receive the other part of your punishment and head to class afterwards except for you Akila. You can stay with Labyrinth in the nurse’s office and I’m pretty sure Blaze should accompany you also to tell the nurse exactly what happened.”

Trevon grinned. “What about me, Ms. Merry? Do I really have to head straight to class? I would rather go to the nurse’s office too. I wanna help do something like everyone else.”

“Oh really now, dearie. Well the janitor deserves a long needed break, and I think that you would be the perfect replacement.”

His smile dropped. “Wait I didn’t mean work like that.”

“Too late now. You already made your decision. Now off to the office now.” She turned away from us and rejoined her class while Mr. Smith rejoined his.

I couldn’t help but smile after her. Trevon is used to getting his way by charming the ladies, but Ms. Merry put him right in his place.

Trevon offered his hand to Akila, choosing to forget about the janitor work he accidentally put himself in. “Shall we be off, my cupcake?”

She stomped on his foot. “Don’t ever call me cupcake or even lay a hand on me. I don’t trust either of you, especially Blaze. And don’t even bother coming to the infirmary with me because I’m not letting you near her. You may have Ms. Merry fooled, but not me. Something when down today and I will find out what.”

"Well lucky for you I have no intention of wanting to be near Labyrinth."

Akila stormed away without a glance behind her.

"Man, you have to work on your lady skills. No wonder you ain't got a girlfriend."

"Well at least I wont be picking up trash and mopping floors."

"That aint funny man. Just hurtful. Now help me walk to the office because my foot is killing me thanks to those high heeled boots."

He started to limp towards the office with me by his side.
