Chapter 4 Tourney And Bedtime Stories

Madison's POV
~After the Tourney game~
Our team had won. Jay, Carlos, and Ben had done amazing. I ran onto the field. I was looking for Ben to congratulate him when I ran into Carlos.
You guys did great. I said hugging him.
Thanks. It was a lot of fun now that I know how to play better. He said.
Just then Ben started singing
( insert Did I Mention from the movie descendants. )
Then he asked Mal to be his girlfriend. I was surprised but I was really happy for Ben. Mal was a great girl whether she wanted to admit it or not. Besides Ben deserved way better than Audrey.
Hey. I have to go. The team is going out for pizza to celebrate our win. Carlos said smiling at me.
Alright. Have fun. I said smiling back at him.
He walked away and everything was quiet when.....
When are you going to tell him you like him? I heard Ben's voice behind me all of a sudden making me jump.
Jeez Ben you scared me. I said.
He laughed.
So when are you gonna tell him you like him? He asked me.
I don't like him. I said.
Yes you do. I know You too well for you to lie to me. He said.
I sighed. I knew he was right.
I'm not going to tell him. I said. 
Why? He asked me.
Because there's no way he would like me back. I said.
Ben looked at me incredulously.
Are you blind. It's obvious he likes you too. He said.
He does not Ben. So drop it. I said.
He opened his mouth to say something when Jay yelled his name. He told Jay he was coming then turned back to face me.
This conversation isn't over. He said before running after Jay.
I walked back to my room. It was 6:00 pm. I took a shower and changed into my pajamas. It was Friday so we didn't have any classes tomorrow. I got in my
Bed and tried to sleep. A little while later I still couldn't sleep. I looked at my phone. It was 10:30 pm. Just then there was a knock on my door. I got up and opened the door. But I was not at all expecting to see Carlos with his dog Dude standing beside him standing at my door at 10:30 at night.

What are you doing here this late?

He looked down at the ground and shuffled his feet nervously. It was kind of cute to see him so nervous.

I couldn't sleep so I was wondering if you would read me one of those old stories in that book you have.

Sure. Come on in.

I moved out of the way and he walked inside. He sat down on one side of my bed while I pulled out my old story book. I sat down beside him.

What story do you want me to read?

He took the book from me and flipped through the pages.

This one.

I took the book back from him and started reading.

Once upon a time.....

After I had finished reading the story I noticed the soft snoring coming from beside me. I turned my head to see Carlos asleep his head tilted back against the headboard of my bed with Dude laying beside him asleep too. I stared at him. He looked so peaceful. I sat the book carefully on the nightstand beside my bed. I laid my head back against the headboard of my bed and quickly fell asleep. I slept much better that night with Carlos there and I couldn't help hoping that he would come back again to hear another story. Ben's Coronation was coming up soon I was excited for it. I knew Ben would be a good king. I couldn't help hoping that Ben wouldn't bother me about Carlos but I knew Ben would bring it up again eventually. I just hoped he wouldn't try and set us up I thought to myself as I fell asleep. When I woke up the next morning Carlos and Dude were gone. At first I thought it had been a dream until I saw a white piece of paper taped to the door of my room. It was a note from Carlos that said:
Dear Madison,
I woke up early this morning and I didn't want to wake you up so I decided to leave you a note. I decided to go back to my room so Jay wouldn't interrogate me about where I was last night.

I smiled. It was nice that he had left me a note so I wouldn't wonder where he was. I walked over and looked at my phone. It was 8:35 am. I also saw I had about 5 texts from Ben asking where I was. He knew I never really slept this late. I sent him a text saying that I was fine and that I hadn't slept well last night so I slept late. He said okay and told me he would see me later. But throughout the day I found myself unable to stop thinking about Carlos. That was when I realized my crush on Carlos wasn't a small crush anymore. Now it was even bigger than a major crush. My biggest fear was loving someone and having my heart broken and here I was now. I was falling hard for Carlos De Vil.
