Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

This novel might just be one of the deepest, darkest, insanely quiet, thriller yet mysterious book I've ever read. It centers around a woman named Libby Day, whose family had been murdered in her house when she was 7 years old, except for her older brother Ben. She has no job and is living off of what she makes from the tragedy. But the money won't last forever, so she finds a "special" club to help her, but it comes with a catch. Not only will she have to revisit the past she's been trying to forget, but she'll have to dig deeper into what she never thought could connect to her Mother, and two sisters' deaths. I read this book at the beginning of the school year and had trouble putting it down. I won't spoil you, but this is slightly mature. Satanism plays a big part in this novel as well as religion and other mature content. I'd say it's for those 14 and up. Gillian Flynn is such an addictive author, and if you aren't already familiar with her, I'm sure you've heard of Gone Girl. She wrote it. If I were you, I'd check out both because they are brilliant. However, Gone Girl is a movie, and soon Dark Places will be too, so please read them first. The movie trailer for Dark Places is already out but don't watch the trailer and if you do, watch it with no volume. Don't ask why. Happy reading :)
