Summary: Harvey, Niall's twin brother, was always the centre of attention. Niall was always the boy in the corner. He had gone through many obstacles, some leaving him broken in the end, to try and break his shyness, but everyone seemed to want to destroy his trust in humanity. But when he meets Harry, Niall realizes he might actually get to be the centre of someone's world instead of that shy twin in the shadow of his brother.

The two boys looked the same, their parents at first had a hard time telling who was who, when they went to school the principle made sure to assign them different classes so they didn't get the teacher to go crazy.

But behind the two pairs of blue eyes and pale skin, they were completely different. Harvey was loud, the first thing people heard when he walked into the room. And Niall, the second twin, well, he was the one that sat on the couch at parties sipping water, or the one that would give a nervous smile and blank stare when someone would try and talk to him. It was no wonder no one liked Niall and everyone liked Harvey, the boy was way easier to talk to.

"Dye your hair then, look funky instead of stuck-up." Sean, Niall's true only friend, had said way back when the blond was still in his early days of high school.

Niall was way more sad then usual that week and had found himself more following his friend around like a lost puppy, then doing anything to cheer himself up.

"Dye my hair?" Niall repeated what Sean had said, tasting the words on his tongue. He continued to watch his friend swear at the television as he played his video games.

"I mean, you keep on telling me how depressing it is seeing Harvey get all the love and attention and you're just some lump. So why don't you separate your looks a little bit, get girls knowing you as Niall Horan, not Harvey's twin brother." Sean had paused the game, setting his arm across the back of the couch. Niall had remembered feeling a little happier hearing his friend say those things. And knew that changing would be a benefit. Hopefully.

He remembers when he came home from Sean's house the next week, the two boys had gone out and bought hair dye at the super market. Went straight back to Sean's house and dumped the dye into his head until they got it a bleached blond, it looked perfect for him, and Niall felt like a spark against the dull wet wood he used to be.

When his mom saw, she had gasped and almost dropped the plates she was setting on the table for dinner. He remembered her mouth hung opened, eyes staring at his new due, he was nervous, completely, but her face softened when he had bit his lip and stared down at the ground in regret.

"That's, wow, different." His mom had stuttered out breathlessly, she settled the plates on the table and shakily wiped her hands on her apron. Niall still didn't know what she had meant, he wasn't getting an emotion from her.

"A good different, or bad different?" He was frozen against the kitchen tiles, cursing Sean in his head for ever even suggesting changing his looks, but then his mom gave him a stiff smile and walked over, placing her hands softly on his shoulders.
