I stormed out of my dad's office with his words bouncing around my head.

"You mustn't approach her until she is ready," my hands shook with anger. who the hell does he think he is to tell me when or how I approach my mate? "She won't understand what this all means, as far as we know she has no understanding of our world."

I needed to touch her, to feel her. My wolf was going crazy just thinking about her. Doesn't my dad know it's cruel to keep a wolf as strong as my own away from their mate.

Pack members avoided me as I crashed down the halls and straight outside. I threw off my shirt and leaped straight into the woods while transforming into a massive brown wolf.

•••••

Sunlight peaked through my eyelids and made my head ache. I felt the dewy grass of the meadow against my bare back and groaned. I had fallen asleep in the woods after my run. I groggily got up onto my legs and stretched into the downward dog before trotting back towards the pack house.

During my stroll I thought about Samantha: what she might be doing right at that moment, hoping she was happy, wondering what her favorite flowers were and promising myself I would plant a whole garden of them for her someday, wishing I could be with her whereever she was, imagining what it would be like to be with her, imagining what it would be like kissing her, imagining what it would be like -

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted as I ran straight into a giant pine tree.

Cursing at myself for getting so carried away, I put my focus back into walking and was back at the house before I knew it. Grabbing a pair of shorts from a hollowed out tree I shifted back into my human self.

I headed into the house and then walked straight to the lunchroom since it was basically noon and my stomach was not happy with me for skipping dinner yesterday. I was immediately welcomed with waves and respectful bows from friends and packmates. The room was already filling with the lunch flow and I stepped into line behind a nice kid named George and let my mind drift off to a certain someone again while absent-mindedly filling my plate with heaps of food. When the two plates I had grabbed couldn't hold any more, I spotted my gamma sitting with Cole and headed over to sit with them.

"Hey dude!" My gamma Xavier exclaimed through a mouthful of pizza, "didn't see you last night, where ya been?"

He slapped my back while I took a seat next to him and I grimaced at his energy.

"No where," I grunted before starting to shovel food into my mouth.

X seemed to sense my bad attitude started talking about some irrelevant  TV show he had watched last night. I continued my constant intake of the piles of food on my plate until that damn irresistible smell from yesterday came back.

Samantha.

I snapped my head to be facing the cafeteria doors and there she was. A beautiful smile was spread across her face, showing off her perfect teeth and making her look ten times more gorgeous than I already knew she was. Her hair was swept over one petite shoulder leaving the side of her very markable neck exposed. Then she started talking and I wished more than anything that the whole lunchroom would shut up so I could just hear her voice. She stepped into line when fingers came in front of my face and snapped me out of whatever kind of trance she had put me in.

"I see you've noticed the new girl," X looked at me with a smirk on his lips, "I met her this morning, she's hot as hell but definitely not my type." I closed my eyes and bit the inside of my mouth to keep from clawing his eyes out for making such a lewd comment about my mate, he didn't seem to notice though since most of his attention was put into eating, "Super nice though, plus Cass loves her." He added as an afterthought, nodding towards his sister who I hadn't noticed trailing behind Samantha.
