I imagined the courtyard to look something like this but filled with grass and other plants + an open back.

Samantha
I drove smoothly along the dark, empty highway, feeling uneasiness seep down in my bones.
It shouldn't be this quiet, I thought, something's wrong...
I looked over to my mother in the passenger seat next to me, "This isn't right."
The words hadn't left my mouth, but I knew they had reached her.
I stared at her intently, waiting for a response.
"Watch out for that wolf."
I let my eyes shoot back to the empty road quickly before focusing on her again.
"There is no wolf," I told her, again with no sound.
She turned to me with a small smile and laughed, "Watch out!" She said with a silly tone.
I went back to the wheel, getting annoyed with her childish antics.
The road became foggy, but I didn't think much of it as we glided further through the night.
I looked back at the passenger seat but my mom wasn't there anymore. Instead sat my grandmother, knitting a scarf with unusually silky yarn in a familiar pale green color.
She didn't even glance at me when she mumbled, "Samantha it's time to wake up."
"What?" I asked her, still staring at the scarf on her lap.
"There's pancakes and eggs and some bacon if you get there before those mutts." She was talking nonsense.
The car started to swerve all over the highway. I was holding onto the steering wheel for dear life, trying to steady the car, but it wasn't working.
"Look out for that wolf!" I heard my mother cry in my head and in a flash I was faced with a giant black wolf in the middle of the street.
Just before I hit it, I shot up from the bed. My eyes were met with morning sunlight spilling onto the light pink walls of my new room and I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down.
"Samantha, are you alright? You were talking in your sleep." I turned my head to find my grandma, or 'Mimi' as she requested I call her, sitting on the bed next to me. I blushed. My mom used to always complain about my sleep walking and talking.
I nodded my head and gave her a small reassuring smile, "I'm fine, bad dream that's all."
She nodded in understanding and patted my hand gently. "I have some breakfast ready in the kitchen if you're hungry. Pancakes and eggs!"
"That sounds amazing" my mouth was watering at the thought of breakfast food. The best meal of the day. "I'll just get dressed and then I'll be ready."
I was in a tee-shirt and some sweats that I had changed into when I first got to the apartment.
I checked the clock, 9:00. It was later than I would usually get up, but I had stayed up late last night unpacking after Mimi went to bed.
She smiled, "after we can go check on that wolf with Dr. Red and then we can walk around a bit, I'll give you the tour."After I arrived yesterday I told her about the accident right away but she insisted I rest and that we could check on the animal in the morning. We had ended up talking for hours, bonding over stories about mom and her telling me about the Silver Creek property. Apparently it was owned by some guy named Dennis Black and my mom had lived here with Mimi when she was younger. I felt bad thinking about how my mom never brought me back with her but I didn't let it get to me.
I smiled back at her, "I'd love that.""Also, there are a few people who are excited to meet you."

Mimi led me through the hall to our floor's kitchen. She told me yesterday about how almost everyone ate dinner in the dining hall down on the very first floor on week-days but kept to their individual floors' kitchens for other meals and on weekends.I looked around the spacious room with a marble island in the middle and saw a man and woman that looked somewhere in their 40's sitting on the island's stools. The woman had milky white skin and straight, long, blonde hair, while the man sat with darker chocolaty skin and bright green eyes. A boy and a girl that shared similar features sat on the countertop and I connected the dots they they were related.
