i met alexandria on a snowy january night at the library on campus. her pale skin reminds me of snow. soft and beautiful.

she sat with another girl at a large table so i decided to sit across from her since there weren't many places to sit anywhere else. i knew the girl next to her somewhere, but i didn't know where.

alexandria's face was pretty. it wasn't exotic, not rough, but more like an innocent child. she looked like one of those rich smart girls. i liked it. her cheeks were prominent, especially when she smiled. she wore a mini skirt with knee socks and a pastel pink sweater. she had long blonde hair and it was pulled back with a simple black headband.

before i sat, i asked if it was okay with her first. she looked up for a moment with confused eyes. her eyes were a gorgeous hazel color. she nodded with a sweet smile and went back to work without a word.

i took out my books and laptop and began my research for this paper in history on the great depression. i was in year one university and i hadn't made a single friend and it's been at least three weeks. i had never seen this girl around before but i figured she spent most of her time here, knowing i didn't. i usually did my work in my dorm because my roommate was always "fucking women at parties" he said. his name was calum and he was a self conceited jerk with perfect abs.

the girl caught my attention when she stood up and walked to an aisle, searching for more books. there were tons of girls here that were mean and dark, and just different, but this girl. this girl was so gentle. so sweet and she always wore a smile.

she came and sat back down. she had a water bottle next to her sticker decorated laptop that she reached for, not taking her eyes off the screen. she did it so quietly, so perfectly.

as i was spotting these small critiques about this girl, i noticed her lanyard had her student id, which obviously had her name attached.

alexandria.

"so alexandra, what year are you?" i asked, my fingers and eyes leaving my laptop.

"alexandria," she answered quietly, correcting the pronunciation.

"alexandria, like the band." i raised my eyebrows.

"pardon?" she asked, confused.

"asking alexandria?" no answer. "oh. well what music do you like then?"

"more of an indie, girl. more mellow." she shrugged with a small smile.

i smiled, amused. she really was interesting. a fantasy really. so perfect it felt unreal. almost like a dream. have you ever seen someone who reminds you of a literal angel? a person that is just beyond lively? well that was alexandria. a perfect daydream.

after hours of small talk, i asked alexandria out. i told her it would be a friendly event and i figured a good party could be fun. she said she had never been to such a thing. i told her i couldn't wait.

she still doesn't know my name. but she never asked.

two days later, friday rolled around and i was on my way to her dorm. my palms were sweating and before i could wipe them on my jeans she opened the door. she looked like a goddess. she didn't look like the "sexy" stereotypical party girl at all. she looked gentle but minty. like a peppermint.

she had a simple lilac dress that stopped at about mid-thigh. she finally asked my name and i told her, "luke." she said i had a wonderful name and i said hers was better. she blushed and we headed to my car.

i remember distinctly. i opened the door for her, then she opened mine for me from the inside. that's what i loved about alexandria. you could never do anything nice for her just to be generous. she always felt the need to repay you.

we headed to the party that i overheard calum talking about on the phone. the drive wasn't too awkward, as she was asking tons of questions about the party. i realized i got the address right when i saw the line of cars and loud pop music blaring through the streets. her eyes widened as she saw the catastrophe.

i smiled and told her to get used to it if she was going to stick around. knowing i was joking, she got out of the car and hooked her index and middle finger through my belt loop.

i smiled to myself, then looked down at her. "it's okay, its just me."

the first hour of the party was fun. just me and alexandria, sitting on the worn couch talking about nothing at all.

i learned a few things from her that night. she wasn'f from here, in san diego. she was from orange county, california which wasn't too far. her parents were both doctors and they lived in a big pretty house in a suburban neighborhood. she had two younger brothers, twins. they were ten. jordan and jayden. she had a younger sister at the age of 7, she was adopted from africa. i thought that was cool.

i let her talk about her life, not really wanting to discuss mine, and she didn't ask.

after the first hour had gone by, we got drinks. i could tell by the way she geld herself when she took a sip that she had never tasted alcohol before. it was cute. the way her nose scrunched up and she gold goosebumps on her thighs and arms.

i didn't have anymore to drink after the first beer. but she seemed to like it so i let her drink more and more until she asked to leave.

she was drunk, of course. but she was pretty quiet through the whole process. she giggled more, and i loved that.

i had already sobered up by the time we got to my car, not that i had gotten drunk or even tipsy. i drove her back to campus and walked her up to her dorm.

she kissed me on the cheek and said, "thank you." and with that, she disappeared through the white door.

later that night i found myself fighting sleep, not being able to get the addicting smile out of my mind.
